I think you would be shocked at jsut how comfortable many people are about the Sharks moving away from Woolware.
The Sharks were born in Cronulla.
But that was 19 whatever...50?
Earlier?
Have they outgrown the area?
No, but their growth has been stunted by the restrictions of staying in the area.
Does the area deserve a professional team if the Leagues club and gate receipts are consistently falling below the red line?
Relocation ?...
If central Coast said gives us the Sharks name and colours and we will provide you a home ground, larger supporter base and assured future I'd subscribe to hearing more. What if they could deliver a premiership?
If it's financially a leg up to play out of SFS how on earth can that be discounted easily? If I can enjoy a few consistent years at the top of the table I don't give a flying where our dressing rooms are.
Who owns the team anyway?
The people who live in the area?
The current players?
Previous players?
Supporters from all points?
The board?
Or is it an entity? A intangible creation that exists in the hearts of supporters not in an area on a map.
Super League thinking saw us known in the majority as just the Sharks in a more global concept and we embraced that no worries.
And had success by making the GF in that arena.
But...back to the NRL and back to the ball and chain of being tied to a few square kilometres on the map of southern Sydney.
Because the 'Get on board or get f**keds' can walk to games they ark up when someone wants BETTER for the team and threatens to take that away.
I'm just throwing ideas around - the development will get thru because risks and forward thinking won't be undertaken. Thinking outside the square won't be entertained.
It's less of a risk and it we go under there's less blame for to lay.
