This is probably were we need our big sponsors like Twiggy and WIN to help out the dragons in 3rd party deals. They should throw their money at up and coming juniors like Jesse Williams and offer them a 3rd party deal so when these other scum clubs come sniffing around, they cannot touch them as they are on good coin which scares them off. Saints are probably offering these young kids 100k or so and a club like Dolphins comes in and offers 200k and they jump ship. The sponsors can throw in 80k or so which is probably pocket money for them to keep the juniors from jumping ship to scare off clubs poaching them.

Bostock got a development deal from the Dolphins when he was playing SG Ball for us. The club should have already had him on a junior contract, but were late to notice his potential.

Was it late to notice potential or was it more "she'll be right mate" attitude
Just being slack and no attention to detail and thinking as you said Ayios - "she'll be right mate we have this guy in our sights". Little did they know that their short sightedness did not see the older gentleman with the balding head shaking hands with young Bostock on a deal to join up at the Redcliffe club.

JDB until he got stood down would have been a star. If not for the dud coaches Saints would have had a gun hooker in Damian Cook or Reece Robson. Garrick was killing it in the juniors from memory and did not see him leaving so early. Saints are not the only team to make these errors in judgement. I think Joseph Manu was a Parra junior. How can you let him go. The best centre in the comp by a mile. And lets not forget the future immortal in Jonathon Thurston. Dogs kept Sherwin and Anasta instead of him. Wow.

he is a liability in the centres, better winger..
Yep this is what I mean, he had a big wrap but looked ordinary in nsw cup.. There was a couple of other blokes at the time that were decent... I forget the exact timing of lomax, aitken and there was 1 other i forget and don't feel like looking up which year they came thru.. I dont think I'd considered Garrick as a winger or a fullback at the time..

Possibly Patrick Herbert at the time had big wraps, played mainly centre with Garrick and also filled in at Fullback and 5/8, played very well at Fullback if i remember correctly.
