Firstly I'm a League fan but do enjoy Union. I am not trying to dengrade Union just making an observation
Aust & NZ Rugby teams are in a Catch 22 situation.
If they are to win World Cups and beat the NH teams they will need to start plating a 'boring' style of Rugby.
Australia and NZ will have to focus on scummagging, field goals, goal kicking, etc. They will have to make the forwards bigger and more skillful in areas that are unattractive to the spectator...well the Australasian spectator.
Australasians have Rugby League which encourages skills that are attractive to the eye and which are encouraged purley by the nature of the game. Tuquri is an example of this....
In Aust & NZ Union tries to encourage a fast paced exciting brand of Rugby and so it should at the expense of trundling forwards and there so called skills.
If it tried to focus on the NH style of Rugby, spectators would turn away and watch League.
What should Aust & NZ Rugby do?
I hope they never resort to the terrible game they play in the NH
