I'm not having a go at Hindmarsh here but has anyone noticed when he is chasing someone in defence after a break away he looks like he is up there with the quickest on the field. But when carrying the ball in attack is bay far and away the slowest. Surely carrying the ball can't slow him down that much??

he aint gettin any younger ... that said, he still has a better motor than ANYONE else in the team

infact he's got the best motor i've ever seen in rugby league .... he chase naiquama on that try better than anyone else in our team - knew he wasn't likely to catch him, but did it all the same and forced him to score out wide and hte goal was missed - which would have mattered had we made a real comeback .... hindy is unbelievable

this is true .... altho maybe if he ran like that in attack and defence he'd pretty much be dead

Sports scientists who have marvelled at Hindmarsh's unique physical qualities say otherwise. Associate professor of sport and exercise science at UTS, Dr Aaron Coutte, tested Hindmarsh a few seasons ago and was gobsmacked by the forward's anaerobic capacity.

In a 30-minute treadmill drill designed to replicate the most exacting period of a game, Hindmarsh pushed through lactate levels five times higher than the average athlete usually fatigues at.

Dr Coutte had worked with English Premier League and AFL powerhouses, but until then had never seen a footballer with such endurance.

And he hasn't since.

"There's something genetic that makes Hindy able to produce a lot of lactate, but also transfer it from his muscles to his blood," Dr Coutte said. "I've never seen anything like it."
