Why does it cost the tigers money to play at Leichhardt?

I read somewhere that the tigers loose 60k when playing at leichart, even with the 18k crowd. I dont know if this is crap or not but was wondering what on earth costs so much and how it is so much cheaper at Homebush?

I understand Homebush is broke and offers excellent deals but arent these ovals such as liechart and cambelltown not used much and as such why cant they offer great deals as well??

Who controls the pricing, and if liechart is so expensive that they are pricing themselves out of the market, why would they not compete and lower the price??

I think the costs are so high because they need police paramedics security and to hire the giant screens for replays

Quite a lot of clubs suffer the same problem - security staff, catering staff, merchandise, bar and ticket staff plus the various hiring of the ground and big screen - all must be paid from the gate takings on the day. Unless the crowd reaches a certain figure the club has to cover the difference.

Parramatta have moved Warriors games with New Zealand in the past to compensate for this reason. Cowboys, Canberra, Melbourne and Titans home games can usually end up costing a club money and for this reason many clubs are exploring the option of playing them closer to their fan base like the Bulldogs in Brisbane.

Dont they need security and catering at ANZ (and every other stadium??). Why would that be a factor not incured elsewhere?

The big screen I can see, but isnt that the same for cronulla, saints, campelltown, and well every other ground not a 'stadium'?

So far the costs appear to be the same as other grounds. I gather the big screen was bought for ANZ (or stadium aus at the time) and as such doesnt need to be hired but surely must need to be maintained by ANZ where if you hire you dont fix it.

not us anymore.

bought one outright. permanant fixture.

Cool, you dont know how much they are do you?? If a cash strapped club like cronulla can buy one outright then surely the tigers can at least rent one?

Unless the gov paid for it with the 7mil odd (was it part of the deal or seperate?)

Part of the agreement with ANZ gives clubs a guaranteed sum per game. They cover all the costs involved with staff - the big screens and all are permanent. If they reach over a certain crowd figure as well they can make an extra amount on top of the guarantee.

I never read "60k" as a lose, maybe so. I remember reading they only make a 10k profit from a packed Leichhardt, but the timing was curious...

Maybe now that the Tigers Leagues club is a sure thing, there's no need to give the media an impression that the club is brinking on collapse.

Interesting, so who pays for ANZ stadium? They would be copping a beating from all these sh*thouse crowds of late.

If it is ultimately the tax payer that pays for both ANZ and Leichart, why cant they offer the same deal.

And would these figures (10k profit from full house) be the same for cambelltown, brookie, kogarah etc or is something odd happening at leichart (as i read that why they dont play there much, cause of the cost).

Ahh so you think its all a ploy to get the plans through and maybe upgrade liechart?

As has been mentioned before, all these happen at every ground and for every club. The colonel explained why Homebush is a better deal but I dont get exactly why other clubs (like manly or saints* for e.g.) dont have exactly the same problem.

*I know saints are playing at homebush this year but that is temporary and for different reasons.

Cos noyce says so
It must be true
I mean who wouldn't treat as sacrosanct the words of a man who thinks `News Ltd are good for the game'
Who has given the Tigers 5 home grounds in a season
It gives him justification for playing at the whoredome

Another valuable contribution...

Please who ever tagged this topic with "leichart oval" can they fix it? Its so annoying! That tag is useless as it is spelt incorrectly. It is "Leichhardt". Cheers.

ANZ would be used so people don't think it was a hugggeee waste of money to build a stadium that was only every designed to be used for the olynmpics

i think it might be due to the fact of how much was paid for the naming rights of the stadium, its all about advertising?
