Why don't the NRL start again?

I do think we need less teams so the superstars can be evenly spread around the NRL.

What I would do is as follows.

1. North Qld
2. Gold Coast
3. Brisbane
4. Newcastle
5. Northern (covering the nth beaches to the CC)
6. Illawarra/ Sothern syd
7. GWS (based between parramatta & penrith)
8. Sydney
9. ACT
10. VIC
11. NZ 1 (based in Auckland)
12. NZ 2 (based in Wellington)
13. SA
14. WA

Existing teams go back to their state cups

So two less teams will spread the talent around evenly??

As for the original idea, been suggested before, wouldn't work properly. If ever there was a time to do it it would've been around the time Brisbane came into the comp, but it was simply Brisbane entering the Sydney comp, not a new national comp. Far too late now, and it's not like our game needs an A-League style revamp, just a few little kinks ironed out.

You'd be the same moron who consistently spells ridiculous with an 'e'. You also spelt 'disappeared' incorrectly too by the by. I'd say dumb is pretty apt. As it is, I 'disappear' all the time. I have never, nor will ever post here with regularity.

I agree that would have been the optimum time to do it, but the idea is still sound, and if implemented long term would see league as the dominant code in this nation.

Hmmm. So having 2 less teams is going to spread the talent more evenly? Ok then. That's a good one :lol:
Next, you would have all supporters of most of the teams in the current competition stand up and suddenly start following the new team, alongside supporters whom they have held a rivalry with for as long as 100 years. You would put 2 teams in expansion areas despite those expansion areas having failed before. You would plonk another team in NZ, with the possible effect of halving the Warriors fan base.
Sounds like a great idea!

You do realise that this kills all the rivalry and traditions of the current Sydney clubs don't you? I love nothing more than going to games against the Sharks, Dogs, Roosters etc because of the great atmosphere. And that great atmosphere is a result of hate and rivalry developed over generations. All your idea does is kill that and therefore kills the last 100 years.

Imagine Saints and Sharks fans supporting the same team. Dogs and Eels fans. No thanks. Keep it as it is.

my dad supported balmain for a good 35 years or so before they merged an he has still has the same passion for the wests tigers as he did for balmain.

I reckon if Laurie nicholls was still alive he would be exactly the same.
