Why is Merritt on the wing?

I dont get it

He is small, runs every way but forward (a Peachey protege?) and just has no impact

He was good for Souths last year because he was at fullback and had space to move

As Peachey is currently there, i dont understand why they even bought this player.

Anyways, that was just an observation after watching todays game

He did bring it out of in goals very well, something a Full back should do well. Its interesting, they obviously rate Simmons as a better full back #-o

Moffo they won't even allow Max to kick when BK isn't playing so what chance is he to play fullback when Peachs not there. Simmons isn't that great of a fullback so IMO my man Max could be on his way out

Merritt has looked very average so far - the only thing he has shown is a bit of pace which, if you want a player JUST for that, you may as well get a speed bump like Joven Clarke.

Simmons should develop into a fine fullback over time, but we need Peachey there for another 2 years at least.

I am assuming it wouldnt Reefy as Merrit is in the top 25 to begin. Wouldnt the PL salary cap involve players of the likes of Dumas, Simmons etc who are not in the top squad.
Maybe wrong its just how i percieve the whole salary cap situation to be.
