So the News Ltd/NRL propaganda machine is at it again, claiming Souths should relocate to the Central Coast or they could die, well what a load of BS. Souths have no star players unlike other top sides and are experiencing their worst season for 60 odd years, lets look at the facts:
Souths average 13,782, 2000 more than last seasons average in a year when the league's crowds are down on last year, also they have not won a game. They are drawing more people than clubs who are a chance of making the finals or winning the comp:
Cronulla 12,698
St.George 12,493
Canberra 10,024
Warriors 9,150
Melbourne 8,999
Manly (14,955), Parra (14,731) and Penrith (14,674) aren't drawing much more.
Canterbury drew 12,658 for a top 4 game against Newcastle.
Also why would more people watch Souths on the CC when they are consistently losing than in Sydney? What magic is on the CC that Souths will suddenly start winning with the same team.
When the club turns the corner they will easily pull 20,000+ crowds. Sport goes in cycles so it will happen, people need to be patient.
The club has a great junior league, sponsors and a huge supporter base it is clubs like Melbourne and the Roosters who need to relocate because if they experience tough times like Souths they can only dream of averaging 13,000+ crowds.
News have constantly focused on destabilising the club, people need to put it into perspective, sure the clubs not winning but they sure as hell won't find any magic cure on the CC, leave that area for the Bears.
