Why the Storm win and the Dragons don’t

Taking Smith out would change both columns so there would only be a small percentage change. For the stats to change dramatically Storm would have to sign players with 100 plus games at other clubs and Storm don't do that.
This points out Marys biggest flaw, his inability to coach.
He has a preference for experience because of it.

This is my point re stat as....it is not so much who they sign it is who coaches them 24/7 why I believe the article is misleading to success.
Newcastle and Warriors are under us..on %..no talk on them
Parra down lowish and perform pretty good...in contrast Cowboys & Broncos Top 6 and been struggling in recent times.
As i said too Wayne Bennett starting from 2009 did not affect him. We had a half built side from buying experienced but not necessarily the best..and Wayne got it to work immediately from Round 1 2009 when we nearly beat the Storm.
And of course it shows his flaws, we all see and know McG's coaching flaws
The article from FOXsports diflects the game itself coaching especially ours as we are in the headline...as do all the media when talking about how bad we are going and it infuriates me.
Millward will be the target of the next review by the looks of it

Not to mention heaps more starch, which our defence could really use...

Yeah well after 7yrs & a fully spun preseason

with a Gould mock ‘review’ ,
a new CEO
& bevy of support mechanisms

we’ve progressed in 2020 to 2nd last in defence

..... 56 points against us already

... just to complement your Waterboy’s 33% win ratio in 2019 Andrew

FMD - 2nd last again
Always the bridesmaid

The Question should be...
Why aren't the Dragons consistantly winning (comps) like the Storm?
Everyone on this forum wearing the the Red V across their chest (Man or Woman)
wants to know why.
They (I guess like me) ex players wish they could do thier part to help win a comp.

The pain in the pit of my stomach is - After six seasons and 2 weeks into this season (and the force lay-off) how are we going to SUDDENLY be highly skilled and win those impossible encounters.

The BS the spin doctors ceased spining years ago....
We the people recognise it...
Why do OUR management continue to pedal it....

What - Do you think we are stupid?
Do you think we are naive?

Ignorant P@#cks

You've got only a few more weeks of the Bliss that you guys bask in....
Then its game on....
The linch mob is poised

Good points
But I am convinced more than ever the difference between the two coaches is one knows how to have those hard conversations and or confronting conversation with the senior players where our super man manager does not
It’s clear he’s frightened of upsetting them Or prefer to be a mate in lieu of altering their style of play or what they’re comfortable with to mould them into what we need as a team
So what does he do....go to the simplistic straightforward game plan that every team does and can read because it’s a simpler way to coach
Because he is not that well respected In the coaching ranks he’s worried that these players just pack up and leave the club because he may have upset them slightly
Well they end up leaving the club anyway because we have a team that can’t compete or stay and enjoy their superannuation money for doing not much and just enjoy life until retirement
And it’s far easier to have conversations with the fringe players and young players and set the tone of your dictatorship
That is why Mc9 will never reach....anything

You can find some stat to align with pretty much any argument you would wish to pursue. The truth is that the Storm have a better squad, better coach, better facilities and better management. Once Smith retires and the Fox, Vunivalu both leave it will be interesting to see if they're still table toppers. Even with what they have have its clear that they can still grind out win after win with Smith running the show but have lost that other gear of the big three era. We could build such a squad if we had a decent coach, there is a lack of good halves atm imo, and we have one of the rising stars in Sullivan wrapped up, throw in Ramsey and McInnes and that's the basis to build a team around.

The odds of an asteroid destroying our planet are supposed to be around 150,000:1 while the chances of alien life somewhere in the universe has too many zeros to fit in here. Somewhere in between these two extremes is the chance of our club winning a premiership under our "coach". I defy anyone to refute these figures.

You ae probably correct and least we know the asteroild will do the job right.
Though...I suppose I would have a lazy $20 if we are given 500,000: 1 to win the premiership.
