Our no 7 walked out last season. In the halfback merry go round this season, from memory:
-DCE to roosters
-Fogarty to Manly
- Sandon Smith to Knights
-Galvin to Dogs
-Sexton to super league
- Metcalf re-signed
- Pezet to Eels/Broncos
I’ve probably missed some others. However, the question that needs to be answered, where the hell were the Dragons in all this? What’s going on? We lose our only 2 origin players last season and we are not even in the conversation for one of those 7’s? The excuse is “ohh, you know, there aren’t any marquee 7’s on the market.” Bullcrap, these other clubs, who by the way, all finished above is this season, can see value in these 7’s. Something is not right here. I’ve never seen a club struggle as much as the Dragons in signing players, even the Tigers, Knights and Titans seem to be able that recruit better.
The answer is, Flanno thinks Kyle is all we need at 7 but Kyle is a 14 at best.

They are so thick.

I think we are going to offer huge dollars for Tino 1.6m a season just my gut feeling. Not saying it will get him over the line but it will be an offer to make him uncomfortable

It will probably take something like this to make the first domino fall. It can backfire of course (I'm looking at you Ben Hunt), but until a big name comes here I don't think the Dragons are seen as a great destination.

The saviour Daniel Atkinson.
There will be so much pressure on Atkinson to turn things around, I don't think he alone is enough.
Looks like Kyle will be our 7 next year going off what Flano said in podcast.
Lets hope with a preseason at 7 Kyle can learn something about game management.

His ability is what it is. He’s played over 100 NRL games.

He will not be improving.

Crap, go listen to the Podcast he clearly says Kyle will be a 14 if they can find someone better.
How the f**k can KF be our 14?

Is Daddy really going to drop his co-captain Cook or our best / most consistent player Liddle?

We will not attract another half and Kyle will wear the 7.

SF can say all he likes on the Podcast but it is all said with a forked tongue.

sorry, should have said lack of club spirt
I'd say management skills. Most likely Haraan has been calling the recruitment/retention shots and messed up our salary cap. Both Anderson and Flanagan seem to be always talking about 2027.

So it will be Kyle at 7 and Atkinson at 6 for 2026. I'm hoping Reed willl be ready for 2027.

"if they can find someone better."

This is so revealing and unsettling.

"If we can find someone better" sounds like a thing I would expect a D grade cricket coach to say, not a multi-million dollar professional national competition way of doing business. Alas! That's where we are at somehow.

When you consider the beneficiary is his son it looks so bad from the outside, at least.

We had problems signing players before Flanagan as coach.
I really can understand him not wanting to pay overs for players, but it is too the point we have to, but not for some washed up misfits from elsewhere. This is pretty much all I read us being linked with now.

The real dilemna though is not even the money can entice players over to Dragons. They want success and the way we ended that season - again - was downright abysmal...and the issue? Not enough talent. Vicious cycle.

The only way I think Saints can become great again is via their juniors unfortunately as nobody wants to come to the Saints. You have an ex-capt bagging the club and acting as if he was imprisoned for 7 years at the club and a player agent who tells the world how bad the Dragons are using the nepotism tactic as the reason his player never got a run. What will happen if Illias fails at the GC as well? Will he be bagging them just as much? One thing for sure, if he does fail it will justify Flanno not playing him run and make this player agent look like a fool using his power in the media to talk his clients up.

Warriors now have Metcalf, Channel-Harris, Tannah Boyd and Te-Mare Martin. That is four FG halves. Wow.

I have a feeling Saints will land with Wishart and they will throw big dollars at him which I do not think he is worth.

Personally I think Saints should start looking in the Super League, players like Lachlan Lam or Bevan French. These guys have been great in the Super League for years now. Maybe time to bring them back to the NRL.
