Widdop seeks release

You can't really believe he wants to come to England? It does make any sense.
I believe that there's more to it. Someone who lives somewhere since age 15, is on almost a million already and just signed a 4 year deal with a local wife and kids doesn't just up and move around the world for what certainly won't be more money.

I think there is a catalyst for it, maybe a family issue or something we can't see. Which is why I'm not going to bitch about it if he is released. It must be very important to him to give all that up

No club in England can get anywhere near his current contract. Like you have surmised, something else is going on here.

Just confirms what I have always thought.
Thanks for not much
29 and homesick...very cute

Kids get homesick, ADULTS manage it
Adults sort it out and plan the change, not seek immediate releases, in my opinion
As far as I am concerned this tells me why Widdop has never reached the heights he promised, it’s always about him
Surely he could say ....how about this is my last year, not 3 more.
or back a few months ago he could have said it, not months into the off season.
Plenty on here will support him in this, well frankly I don’t.

You're a piece of shit.

I think you'd be best suited to a career as a punching bag.

This news simply underscores what is wrong with our club.
You are talking about theTeam Captain just up and leaving!!?
Loyalty - zero.
Flashy and impressive when the forwards are dominating.
Unable to close out games and soils his shorts when the games are tight.
In spite of the support he enjoyed by many fans, Widdop was one of our long term problems.
Overrated. over paid and over here.
Couldn't stand his weak kneed captaincy and pathetic presence sitting next to McGregor facing the press.
Hope this opens the door for a key signing that will actually provide some real game management and balls in the halves.
As much as I like watching Shaun Johnson play, he is in the same mold as Widdop and is not a specialist 5/8 as well. He is not the answer.
However, a tough nut like Maloney may well be the perfect foil for Hunt.
Of the younger brigade AJ Brimson is a standout in my opinion and we should pull out all the stops to sign him long term.

Congratulations on possibly the stupidest post of the day.

I'd be jumping to conclusions here, but I'd be more inclined to think a possible breakdown in relations between coach & captain could be the catalyst here.
It seems bizarre for a captain to walk out on his club as the leader.
