Wigan - Are they history?

Imagine my joy today when I logged on and see that Wigan have lsot again - and at home!!

Nothing makes me happier, bar the Broncos recent end of year stutters, than seeing Wigan struggle. What has happened to them? Are they bound for the relegation fight or merely a early season slump like St.George last year in the NRL?

Here's hoping eh:lol:

I think Wigan for too long thought they were too good to not be a good side. Instead of signing top quality players, they started to accept mediocre players and have always preferred overseas players to their own.

More recently this affliction changed to paying too few too much money. Players like Andy Farrell and Kris Radlinski spent far too long on far too much money. They have both now gone, but the likes of Vaealiki have taken over their salaries to a large extent.

Wigan fans would probably claim the cap is holding them back, but its not. They have been badly managed for the last decade.

And long may it continue.:alcho:

It's really been a rapid slide... they had a wretched start to last season, with Farrell and Davico not lining up, and then some long term injuries to other forwards. I really expected them to bounce back this season.

But it's not happening. Vaealiki has been as disappointing as he was in his final season at Parramatta, yet is on top dollar? They've bought and have some capable players, but their playmaker positions seem a bit weak.

Various combinations of Orr, Moran, Brown, Godwin, and Higham aren't up to competing with what most others are bringing in the halves and at hooker, Wigan probably remain one key player short...

Wigan let young talent go, sign the likes of Moran and Fletcher, and Uncle Mo blames everything on the 20-20 rule. Perhaps Fletcher's experience of playing in a losing side will come in handy.

Chris Ashton the 18 yo fullback/centre has been by far and away their best player this year and guess what, he was left out of the side for this weeks game.
To me this says it all about Wigan. Appalling decision making.

Predicted this years ago with my first post on another forum.

People said I was crazy......
You are crazy, this changes nothing.

You can predict that any team will become rubbish, if you wait long enough it'll happen.

I'll predict here that LF's Panthers will get the wooden spoon, let's see how many years it takes to come true ;-)

The sooner they dump Moran, the better off the club will be. Bring in Brown and Ashton fulltime and see the Warriors reap the rewards
