Queensland Reds pulled off a coup by signing Storm centre Will Chambers

February 16, 2009 THE Queensland Reds have pulled off a coup by signing rising Melbourne Storm centre Will Chambers to a two-year Super 14 deal.
Chambers, 20, will switch codes at the end of the 2009 season and is viewed as a potential outside centre in a young Reds backline bristling with talent.

The 101kg Northern Territory-product played rugby as a schoolboy and represented Queensland alongside Reds playmaker Quade Cooper in 2006.

He has played three seasons with the Storm and also starred for the Queensland Under-19s league team but his 2008 season was marred by a knee injury.

"Will spoke to us some time ago about playing rugby again and in subsequent discussions convinced us that he had a genuine desire to play for the Reds after enjoying the game as a representative schoolboy at Nudgee College in Brisbane,'' said Reds high-performance manager Ben Whitaker.

He's a Union player now. Can't talk about Union in the NRL section. This way it can wither away and die, like his career.

He's not a union player until the end of the season, deadbeat. What's he going to be playing all year?

Settle down hero, I didn't move it. I'm just guessing as to why it was moved. Some of these mods can be over protective.

Union blows btw.

meh, no big loss
he'll be a wannabe soon
f**king glad the dead sh*t is gone though, useless hack
oh, and make sure you don't let the door hit your arse on the way out, greedy prick
still not sure why somebody would want to switch to the inferior code :?
and yet, this is just another example of the NRL not doing enough to preserve our game

he is not that good yet, he has potential but he is no superstar. In saying that I am sure he will be playing union at test level at the end of that super 14 season. Ryan cross :lol:

He's just coming off a major knee re-co and the only organisation stupid enough to give him a contract before they even see him play a game is the Queensland Reds,.

I like him alot and think he has alot of ability but that is a big-time risk.

Considering their buys of Clinton Schifcofske and Andrew Walker in past seasons, a young up and comer in Will Chambers is a very welcome change.

The Reds develop him from school and he also played club rugby for Brothers . I think the Reds know what they are doing . Tim Horan pklayed his best rugby after serious knee re-co .

Err...he's played RU for QLD schools and repped as a junior. He was signed by the Storm straight out of school....good to see the Reds have kept an eye on him.

Joe Tamone would have been a better signing though.
