Will Hayne be the only RL/NFL success story?

The press in the U.S. have picked up on a groundswell of support for Hayne and that other possible incursions into the NFL are possible by RL players, starting with Dugan.

I don't see Dugan making it at all. No where near as good as Hayne but what are the reasons behind the lure of the NFL to RL players? Is it the belief that you haven't made it in sport unless you make it in the U.S.? Is it the $$$ or is it a combo of both and other things like bragging rights, big brother/little brother chip on your shoulder type stuff that can be attributed to Australia's fascination with American culture?

Dugan is going to look a fool IMO and it all it shows is that he is far from original and was too afraid to be the pioneer of such a ground breaking move.

He doesn't have any of the attributes Hayne possesses, least of all star power. Dugan to the yanks would look like an extra/ thug pulled straight from the set of Mad Max and has a chequered past that could haunt him in the U.S.,if he ever got that far. He doesn't have the marketability that Hayne does.

I read that an NRL players is a swiss army knife and an NFL player a scalpel, both with different uses but just as valuable in their own way. Not a bad analogy I guess but I think a lot of NRL players are going to be disappointed if they try their hand at American football.

Impossible to tell at this stage. If you had asked people 12 months ago if Hayne would make an NFL team roster most if not all would have said no.

If a league player is going to make then he will have to show the determination that Hayne has shown.

George Rose could probably make it as a nose tackle...he's basically a white Casey Hampton

Yeah it's really hard to say. You obviously need to narrow it down so which player would have a skill set that would be suitable for what ever position in the NFL. I can't see anyone in the NRL being an offensive or defensive linesman. Running backs yeah, I always though Matt Bowen would have the footwork but obviously not the size or strength to move through a pile of bodies.

People keep mentioning Inglis, but Inglis' strength is in his upper body when running. When he runs, he runs incredibly up right which allows him to use his upper body strength. He has f**k all footwork and again his upper body is not very mobile. He is nothing like Hayne. If anything, Inglis is closer to a TE than a RB or WR.

At the end of the day, I don't think any other League player has the desire to make the transition to NFL like Hayne did. Hayne loves a challenge and he loves NFL, so he had a crack and well done to him.
