The press in the U.S. have picked up on a groundswell of support for Hayne and that other possible incursions into the NFL are possible by RL players, starting with Dugan.
I don't see Dugan making it at all. No where near as good as Hayne but what are the reasons behind the lure of the NFL to RL players? Is it the belief that you haven't made it in sport unless you make it in the U.S.? Is it the $$$ or is it a combo of both and other things like bragging rights, big brother/little brother chip on your shoulder type stuff that can be attributed to Australia's fascination with American culture?
Dugan is going to look a fool IMO and it all it shows is that he is far from original and was too afraid to be the pioneer of such a ground breaking move.
He doesn't have any of the attributes Hayne possesses, least of all star power. Dugan to the yanks would look like an extra/ thug pulled straight from the set of Mad Max and has a chequered past that could haunt him in the U.S.,if he ever got that far. He doesn't have the marketability that Hayne does.
I read that an NRL players is a swiss army knife and an NFL player a scalpel, both with different uses but just as valuable in their own way. Not a bad analogy I guess but I think a lot of NRL players are going to be disappointed if they try their hand at American football.
