Our coach always does the opposite to Bennet. Bennet signs his gun player in lockyer to a 5 contract, ensuring he plays out his career with the Broncos.

Therefore Smithy will no doubt offer Hindy a 2 year contract and end up on a train station waving Hindy bye bye as Hindy accepts a 5 yr contract from Canterbury

Oh don't talk crap....Smithy offers the big players good contracts:
- Hindy, Caylo, Vella, Dykes: all coming off 4 yr contracts next season
- Lyon: offered and signed a 4yr contract last season....then pissed off

Anyone getting 3yrs or up these days has done well.

Maybe the "friends of Parramatta" can pay Hindy in meat.

His biggest fear is that the world runs out of it.

If we can slay a beast every week then that should keep him content!!

I'll do up a roster then??

Not trying to question Hindy's commitment or loyalty or any of that, but.........

What's the poor bloke to do when someone slaps 600K in front of him next year? Seriously, we can probably russle up maybe 400-450k. That extra 150-200k isn't gonna be something Hindy will just flip off.

One thing I don't see us doing much is using our major sponsor to partake in legal third party sponsorship deals with our stars. Last player I can remember to do something with Asics was Jim Dymock, and that was just a series of posters. I reckon if we can offer Hindy 400k plus the full 100k we are allowed in 3rd parties, then we'll be looking decent in the retaining stakes.

Failing that, if Nathan has any common sense he won't just accept whatever Parra can afford to give him.

Hopefully whatever we can afford is more than decent. I know he probably shouldn't accept less than what he can but if he is happy here and its similar or better than what he has already I'd say he would take it. He is too genuine a person to leave for $$$$ IMO.

$600k  You're kidding HJ. No forward in the comp would be on that much. Not Webcke, not Fitzgibbon, not Morley, not Ryles, not O'Meley.......I know Hindy is worth a hell of alot more than $300k but I can't see any other clubs offering him anywhere near that much. Possibly $400-450 absolute max but not more than that.

Have to agree with Parraren, no-one in this day and age is worth $600k and that includes Johns and Lockyer. To pay that much for one player puts at risk the option of having quality depth in important positions should you get more than your fair share of injuries. I think $400-450k would be a worthy figure and Hindy seems like the kind of bloke that would be more interested in being comfortable than being the richest kid on the street.

It'd be hard to knock back half a million dollars for a year's work....if an expansion team gets the nod there will be big bucks around for any quality player that is off contract.

A couple of years ago, did anybody think that Ben Kennedy would leave Newcastle ?
Or would Bob Fulton ever leave Manly ?
You never know what may happen in the future, so just enjoy the present. 8)

(But may I suggest that we keep a space open in our Hall of Fame to add Nathan as soon as he becomes eligible)

One thing in our favour with Nath is that he is very shy. It takes him a while to settle and doesnt really like change. He is comfortable at Parra and knows what to expect. I cant see him packing up and leavin in a hurry.

Premature subject.

If Hindy left tomorow I'd simply hold on to all the memories of what he did for us. His leaving would not be the end of the world. We have endured these things before, like the day Ray Higgs signed with Manly, or the day Sterlo popped his shoulder one last time.

As for sacrificing wages for him....he had better return the favour in pizza!
