Will Pryce released

Great news. He was reportedly on 400k and couldn't crack first grade.

I'm wary of who the replacements will be but I'm actually excited we've managed to resolve so many of our dud contracts - Saifiti, Hastings, Brailey and Pryce.

KPP probably the last of them. I wonder whether he will get interest elsewhere or will we give him a reduced offer.

Seemed like a decent clubman but he was a low IQ footballer signed on potential. If he couldn't crack it in the halves merry-go-round last season he was never going to get a spot this season.

Promote one of the development players and give Hunt the dev spot.

Yep, we had a crack at a very raw kid with some natural talent and it didn't work out. Hope he goes and carves it over there with what he's learned here. You've have to imagine this is at least a small part of trying to clear the decks for Brown to come early. We'll need to clear more if we're going to make it work. Hastings has to be on the table I think. Hastings + Pryce moved on would see Dyl here early I think.

Don’t think it will happen and Pryce leaving early would only mean a partial saving of his $400k payment, that’s small change to Brown🫢

Good outcome for all involved IMO.

Would this help us in getting Brown this year if Eels released him? Pryce was on quite a lot of money for a non-regular first grader.

Great news for all. Unfortunately, it was evident very early on that he wasn't making it at NRL level.

Surely this has been pushed through to make way for Brown to come across this season. Another move that will be good for all.

Well yes, but also Browns asking price for this year is also coming down at the same percentage as Pryce and Hastings as we move through the year and their contract year gets smaller. If Pryce and Hastings wages cover Browns wages for this year - and I believe they do with change to spare actually, then it doesn't matter that we've paid Pryce partially this year, because Brown has also been partially paid. Brown is only on like 900k this year. Hastings Cotnract almost covers it single handedly, you just have to find him a home. We can probably even afford to pay some frieght if necessary.
Releasing him now will likely only mean some current players will get front ended so we can make some breathing room for 26 and beyond. Very little chance of getting Brown for 25
This is the alternate prize, and still great for us.

Wouldn't it benefit everyone if Brown came here a year early? Also, it looks like POS is making moves aggressively (which the Knights have never done in the past). I hope it happens!

I know ryles shut it down, but we could also add that Parra might pay some his contract to release him early like we are doing with dsaf

We also said in the media mere days ago that we had no room and that we were happy with our squad for this year. A few days later, Pryce is off to England. What we're seeing is positioning/negotiating through the media. Our position is - we don't need to take Dylan right now and we'd need your (Parra's) help to even accommodate him in the cap. I.e - we hold all the cards and have no desperate need.

Honestly, you can read Gardners comments the other day as "I don't want to piss off our current squad by shopping them around in the papers, but we need you to help with our salary cap position if we're to take Dylan off your hands early". Ryles' position can be translated as something like "we don't want to show our hand publicly and weaken our bargaining position by admitting we would explore options for Dylan right now - or even that we're keen to move him on."

At the end of the day, these negotiations aren't nutted out in the papers. What we hear is the safe line to trot out until a deal is or isn't done. There would 100% be discussions happening - I think both clubs would be negligent if they aren't having this chat actually. Whether it pans out for us or not I don't know.

Bit of a shame that it didn’t work out for Pryce over here. He’s clearly talented but making it in the NRL is a tough gig and plenty have tried and failed. Best of luck to him in the ESL and who knows we might see him back in the NRL when he’s a bit older and more experienced.

I was hoping Pryce was being let go now because Gamble is fit and ready to go for FG so Cogger can take Pryce’s spot in Cup.

Was reported Knights are after Lyhkan King-Togia from the Dragons, he's probably a more realistic halves option to get this season with Pryce gone.

Wouldn't expect any movement on Brown unless one of Hastings or Brailey are able to be moved on, and even then who knows if Parra really want him gone early. Fans do but fans are emotional, and the other halves options he's been paired with so far aren't going to get them any further than Brown can. Doubt the Raiders are that keen on getting Brailey early either, they've got enough hookers as is.

I wouldn’t put it past Penrith to try and get Cogger back midseason. He’d walk back into the halves with that current squad.
