My guess:

Board meeting Monday.
In the media by Tues that's he's gone and Lam is new head coach.

The board will think, "well we're paying him for 2007 so we should create a job for him, with some token title like coaching co-ordinator'.

But - after interviewing the top 17 blokes and hearing their opinions of him he'll just be cut loose altogether.
I reckon (hope) they'll go for a real old hand as assistant coach to help Lam in his initial year - as other clubs have used blokes like royce Simmons, John Cartwright.

Gavin Miller would be priceless in that role working with the pigs.
