Will you take Souths seriously next year?

Will they challenge your team on game day or are they a write off?

Good forward pack, but once again the halves will be the achilles heal of this side. It takes time for a combination to form, and Smith and Williams are still both very inexperienced in first grade, so there will doubtless be the inconsistencies in form that almost every rookie goes through.

That said, as long as McRae doesn't take the Ricky Stuart pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey approach to selecting halves, and they are left with time to actually form a combination, Souths should really start to worry teams about 10-12 rounds into next season.

It won't be enough for a high finish next year, but should the current good recruitment strategies remain in place for next season, 2008 may well be a watershed year for the club.

decent forward pack, but they have alot of money sitting on the bench. could have been better spent improving the halves.

the forwards will give them some go forward, but once they cop a few injuries, they wont compete.

definite spoon contenders next season.

Good luck to souths, it would be great to see them challenging for a semi final place in the near future.l The 1989 semi final between them and canberra, was the game that introduced me to league when i was young. Since the glory days of 89 souths have struggled, it would be good for the game if they can become a genuine force again.

With that squad anything above 12th will be a great achievment

If they get a fair rub of the green with injuries they should be in the same bracket next year as the (roosters , raiders , titans , eels etc)

they have have a good seventeen player wise and cheque book wise, but when it comes down to injuries and bottom dollar at the bottom end, I think they might struggle

Souths havent exactly been a breeding ground for nurturing players. Over he years pleny of decent players of gone to souths and end up worse than previously...

whislt I think recruitment has improved, unless you see improved performances on the field, big names on a piece of paper are just that....

p.s. I think the titans will be a lot better than souths

nah they arent a nuturing ground. John sutton, Craig wing, Beau Champion etc are ordinary. Anyways, There hasnt been any good halfbacks on the market to buy anyways, 2007 might be different
