If I'm at work doing my job & someone king hits me, breaking my cheekbone, it's recorded on video, & the attacker can be identifed, what would happen next?

it's pretty serious..
ever in the history of any sport has a person been charged with assault by another player from an on field incident?
it's strange how on the field there are slightly different rules for those in the game then those in the general public.. even at times it's off field incidents that aren't treated the same

years ago Steve Rogers took Mark Bugden to court after an on field incident and got an out of court settlement .

Danny Williams actions most definately constitutes assault. The common law of assault is mere touching but it is premised by the fact people can consent to others touching them. One the football field it is recognised that people consent to behaviour that wouldnt normally be allowed by the general public. However, the law says the behaviour must be within the expectations of those playing the game. You can break the rules of league and not be charged with assault, such as a head high tackle. However, behaviour like Williams is clearly not a part of the game. Legal or otherwise. There is several precedents that suggest Williams committed an assault. However, I think its best left on the field. He is going to lose his career anyway

C`mon, that`s going a bit overboard! No doubting it was a cowardly act to king hit a non aggressive guy when he`s not even looking, but i`m a great believer of what happens on the field should stay on the field!I`m not saying it would have prevented this incident, but one of the Wests Tigers big problems is lack of aggressiveness and lack of a couple of intimidating players to protect the team in particular the young guys playing there first couple of years in 1st grade!A prime example is when watching the Broncos,if anyone even remotely tries to roughen up Karmichael Hunt or any of the other youngsters,Gordie is their in a flash to take care of the situation.I realise these type of players are hard to find, but one old style type of player whom i`ve been keeping a close eye on over the last couple of weeks is David Thompson currently playing for Souths. This bloke likes it the harder and rougher the better and refuses to take a backward step.He wouldn`t be on much money at the moment and i`m convinced he`s a player that could be of great benefit to the team and one we wouldn`t have to compete with the Rorters to get as they already have the likes of Morley and Crocker as their intinidators! Finally I reckon Danny Williams deserves about 14-16 weeks suspension.Pick on someone who will have a go back and who`s actually looking at you next time Danny you flea!

Ive always said "what happens on the field stays on the field" as well, but seeing Danny Williams last night made me start to question that, a football field shouldnt stop you from being legally responsible for your disgusting actions.

Im still undecided though, Id like to see him severely punished somehow, but then that opens up a massive can of worms if he is being punished by the police and not the NRL or Melbourne Storm.

Do all those who bandied around Williams' name during the past couple of weeks still want to sign him?

But I think what Hoppa did was worse, that was a violation. What Williams did was a low act, but Bucketts wasn't violated. If Hoppa wasn't charged with sexual assault, Williams shouldn't be charged with common assault.

Although, Bucketts can take williams to court a-la Jimmy Jack v Ian Roberts, in a civil matter.

I think Williams will get suspended for more than the rest of the season, if he retires, he only serves out a 10 week suspension, no where near a long enough penalty. I think Wests Tigers will take him to court no matter what...
