Mason @ 250-280k a season is better value than Pritchard @350-400k a season in my book. i would not be disappointed if we signed him. I'd also like to sign luke O'Donnell if we could snap him up at 250k. Surely the exit of Pritchard, Cooper, Graham, Paulo, Blair, Penese etc could free that cash up. I know you're an ex-copper Mick Leary, but did you do economics and maths at school? It's simple bloody arithmatics constable.

O'Donnell has already signed for Huddersfield I think.

I have no idea where Big Willie is gonna end up but I don't think given his age he would be good value for our club. He is predominately a front rower these days and we probably have the depth in the front row and do not need Willie. We need a devasting wide running back rower and they are hard to come by which is all the more reason why our CEO should have been at least interested in Greg Eastwood. The fact he is 'not' belies belief. Eastwood is exactly the type of player we should be pursing to replace Frank Pritchard. Sika Manu would have been the other obvious choice but alas the Storm have probably freed up enough cap space to retain him.

I still think the big unit would have a bit to offer as a wide running second rower. I dont think he is great prop, adequate but not great. Move him back to his natural position & I think he could do a good job. Peanuts in the front row would also be a waste.

Totally agree. Mason is pretty quick when he gets into space, but isn't overly fond of the tough stuff up the middle. Needs to play out wide. I don't know why we don't chase him. He seems to be the sensible replacement for peanuts.

As I posted in the Webb thread we aren't signing anyone moving Waterhouse to the Pritchard role. While a good offloader I don't think he is quick enough for that role

The only way House could cover Peanuts is to play him off the bench & not expect him to do a whole lot in defence. He provided great impact in 03 & then when he was moved to starting lock in 04 the impact dissapeared apart from a few good offloads & a bit of hole running off Gower. He didnt loose his skills , he was just f**ked from making big numbers in defence. Still been a fantastic player but the role has changed. Its not just about having a good player, its having a management team that can identify a players strengths & weaknesses & use said player accordingly. Imagine having 13 Haynes on the field, Ray Warren would drown in his own splooge but the team would get pumped evey game.

I would prefer Lewis for that role with Smith to lock

I'd rather we brought in another option but if were using what we have id prefer to use house as a damaging offloading backrower, use Smith as the worker and leave Lewis. Alternatively get Laurie fit teach him a bit of ticker and throw I'm into peanuts role.

If you taught him a bit of ticker he would have something peanuts doesn't have.:)
