I'm hopeing that the Dolphins get the go ahead as it would give us queenslanders 2 games a year to go and see the sharkies play so my fingers will be crossed for a successful application by the Gold Coast and it would piss the Ponies of big time. YEH

i scratch my head at the unfairness of the bears situation

Agree on the Bears but disagree on Illawarra.

They dissapeared becuase no one went.

Everyone in the Gong claimed to be a supporter yet their crowds were abysmal. Same thing with their soccer team and basketball team.

If they get in....and prolly are the bestest of the bids...then I hope to f**k they get it right this time...

The game definately cant afford more clubs period!

one more club and thats it!.....any other franchise should come from an existing one relocating.

Can't agree on the Bears issue.
They were ripped off big time.
If the Sharks had have been in the situation the Bears were forced into, I would hate for other supporters to feel like that of the Sharks cause.
The bears did the right thing & relocated before any other team.
If anybody remembers the weather that year it was cataclysmic, putting the Stadium behind schedule over a year. So they went broke building it with little assistance, went broker not being able to use it & then went even broker during the ARL/ super league war in terms of player payments.
They were not invited to SL if I remember correctly like the sharks were.
At least they had a crack at re-locating to a growing league area & would have it sown up by now if the league had have done the right thing and exterminated Manly.
SL wanted to make their own north sydney team. Another reason they went broke was their contract ran out with NSO so they had to play their home games all over the place.

I used to go to all the bears games as a little fella. I would like Norths to get back in and play a few games at NSO.

ps - SS due to singos contract dealings the only team on the CC will be the Bears. The Rip was made for god knows what. The good players on the CC normally go to Newcastle but that would change if the CC got their own team. Hence another reason Newcastle is against the CC

I agree with most of what you say here reefy, but where the focked up was not getting a written agreement from the ARL that if they did invest in the CC they would automatically be included in any future comp for 'x' amount of years.

Poor admin IMO, they should have gotten it in writing first, then invested the money.

& the only way to keep the club numbers down is to make it an unprotected market.
If the salary cap was doubled then the lesser clubs would have to relegate themselves.
I think the game can reasonably support 16 clubs, if not easily!
Payments secured a year in advance.

The problem before was that the league was run by the inept ARL. GoldCoast could not compete with the big spending Manly' brisbanes ST Geo. The juniors had no flegg or SG Ball system to come up through. pokies came in in QLD which killed Seagulls which to this day, was the most profitable leaguesclub ever. It was an unmitigated disaster.

BS there is no doubting that the Bears Admin were the joke Of The league.
But fans should not be held accountable for their inadequacies & criminal behaviour.

it's all at www.goldcoastdolphins.com.au

it would seem they've decided they are entering the competition
and there is nothing the NRL can do about it!!

"Do what I say," said the evil Dolphin. "Or I'll squirt water at you."

Nah, the logo doesn't work for me.

I'm in favour the Central Coast proposal, might even follow them as my second team if they are admitted to the NRL.

Either way it goes the NRL lose. Both bids are better than some of the current teams running around. The NRL should bite the bullet and force a relocation or force a team out of the comp.

It isn't good for the fans of that club (and it could be the Sharks) but it is the only good thing for the game.
