A challenge for all the folk on this forum to help take our minds off the wall to wall bad news lately: Try to name one benefit the involvement of WIN Corporation has brought to our club since their buy in.

I was taken in by the name of the organization itself - the WIN Corporation.

I foolishly believed that they were rolling in money and was also under the impression that B.G. being a Dragon tragic would , with the assistance of his advertising empire (?) bankroll the Red & Whites to premiership glory .

Oh how wrong can a man be . I should had known better as my old man use to say to me , from a very tender age “ Cecil me boy , be careful when you go to pick up a cow pad as they are not all as hard as they may seem , there are many that are wet and slippery and stink to high ‘eaven ! “

Since they own half of the JV and have divergent investments, we will be much more likely to have the capacity to weather the current financial uncertainty than if we were only supported by a leagues club.

They recently closed down regional broadcasting which is their core business so no chance they will save a footy team when it becomes financially unviable.

They did that in response to the long term viability of regional television.

If the NRL has a long term future it’s a different scenario.

Is it 1st of April already or is this a trick question?

The only thing I can possibly think is they ran a friggin free TV ad to attract RedV membership in possibly the worst season in the history of the club when we came runner up for the wooden spoon. How the hell did they come up with the name WIN Corp! FMD

Wrong there boomer.

They didn’t shut down regional broadcasting, they shut down regional newsrooms to improve profitability.

Their revenue comes from ads, not from a newsroom. Surely someone with your experience should understand this.

I’d listen to Mary’s coaching advice before I’d listen to your anti Illawarra agenda.

The corporation started with the Wollongong Illawarra NSW TV station, or WIN TV for short.

Given that Corp is short for corporation, I’ll let you join the dots.

It’s enabled the Illawarra half of the JV to have a louder voice against the St George old boys who’ve been stuck in the 70s & have been running the poor St George arm of things into the ground.

The NRL trying to play on citing players pays etc etc etc looking for / demanding government subsidies etc etc etc indicates that the game is not very viable and cannot withstand unforeseen pressure and will struggle to survive.
Don't expect the Gordon's to save the club with their hard earned $$$ they will just let it liquidate if push comes to shove.

Which they should. If St George can’t keep up their half of the deal, WIN aren’t a charity to bail them out.

Let St George RLFC go broke, liquidate the JV and take the licence to Wollongong full time.

You know it’s the right thing to do.

The NRL is not the club. And the NRL is not rugby league.

Following the fallout of all of this, there will be a premier rugby league competition in Australia. WIN Corp is currently our best insurance of being a part of that competition.

They already have. Several times. They’ve done it with caveats, but that’s just good business sense.
