And I thought it was a marriage made in heaven. Minus Dragons famous brand NRL would be poorer for that. And without the Dragons Illawarra would have withered long ago. And the Dragons needed Illawarra for the juniors I imagine. But thinking about how junior development is a load of crap example the chooks why did the Dragons bother. They paid our debt to NRL resulting in us getting the full hand out each year.
Prevously we were docked around 400k as a loan repayment.
This in turn gave us more money to increase Marys wages this beating off rival suitors.

Just to veer off a bit from the subject, I wonder how things would have looked if Paul Smith's Total Sport + company had put in the winning bid for the Illawarra side of the JV. His involvement had put a rocket under the Sydney Kings and boosted them from mediocrity to the top of the table. He is a colorful guy who in never short of a quote on any subject (Kings fans are never in any doubt what's going on with their club- he talks one on one to them ) and has a deep and distinguished sports management background- and is a passionate Dragons supporter. I know it's all history now but I firmly believe we would be a powerhouse to rival the Roosters now if this had happened.

Would have been the best option but win is who we ended up with it could be a lot worse.
