Apparently we are chasing Bateman from Superleague.

One of the few I'd like to see try their luck in the NRL, and just coming into his prime. I'd love us to give him a shot.

I think he is about the best back rower in Superleague (with his Wigan team mates Farrell and O'Loughlin, but O'Loughlin is slowing down and too old to try the NRL now. Farrell would be a good pick up too, but Bateman has about the most upside of any forward in Super League, as an NRL prospect).

Don’t watch much superleague, how much better is he than the wardle/greenwood/turner types in the same position?

Much better than those guys. They are OK, and decent SuperLeague back rowers but probably not up to NRL standard. Bateman is an English international and as good an NRL prospect as Whitehead (who I think has been fantastic for the Raiders).

I should clarify, Whitehead has proven himself at NRL level and Bateman hasn't, so Whitehead is a better prospect right now (and more experienced). But I rate Bateman higher in SuperLeague now, than I did Whitehead when he was in SuperLeague (they are both in the English squad).

As I said, he and Farrell are the only SuperLeague forwards I think could become elite NRL players (although I like Luke Thompson who just made the English squad as a prop, I'll be watching his progress).

Very good, big fan of whitehead despite my burning hatred for the green scum. Right edge player?

Bateman plays on the right edge mostly at Wigan (because Farrell plays left and is a few years senior and also a top player), but plays centre, sub, and either edge just fine. He is small for an NRL forward but tough and aggressive.

Ok
I’m spilling
I’ve been told by an extremely reliable source that Woods is a Shark.
Woods told my source directly.

Just waiting on the NRL to give it the green light.

Sharks and dogs have agreed.

Who knows he might kill it here.
He has played plenty of rep footy so he must half decent.

It now sounds like you got dud information Carch.

Apparently hasn’t signed and Sharks and Dogs are way off working out a reasonable pay off percentage.

A week ago it was only the NRL who weren’t on board.
Maybe something changed.

Woods himself said he was a chance at playing last weekend for us.

Interesting.

Both Bulldogs & Sharks playing it cool.

Could be who blinks first before June 30th.

We definitely need another prop from somewhere to compete with the more physical packs in the Comp if we are a chance to do something this year.

Probably had faith the Dogs were going to agree to a Sharks deal. Sounds like that isn't happening anytime soon. Flanno sounded pretty doubtful of it happening in the video on the sharks page today.

The Dog's would go all out to shaft us. Good to see the club standing strong on a deal
