Today the World Sevens tournament will be taking a slight change in 2004. The World Sevens committee have brought in the 4th tackle rule which took place from 1967 to 1970 when the tackle count was being reduced from unlimited.

The tournament will see 26 team compete. 15 NRL teams, Super League club- Widness, Russian, Lebanon, Tonga, Fiji, Samoa and New Zealand residents. Also to this Cook Islands, USA, Japan, Italy and Australian clubs- North Sydney Bears, Newtown
Jets, Balmain Tigers, NSW Counrt and Indigenous teams will take to a Qualifing tornament at Saint Marys.
