This is a trophy never won by us.I am hoping we go full strength at them .We will never get a better chance than now to win it.Spencer must be in doubt given his shoulder injury hopefully not serious
I know nothing about the English side or how they match up against us.But this could be our only real chance to take this trophy

I was told it will be optional for the World Cup guys, Still we will belt them regardless

Pretty much a Penrith off wish. Very quick line speed grind teams down the middle with a massive pack let the half’s do the rest of the work. If walmsley isn’t fit it will be over 40. Their 7 dodd just spent 6 months out with injury which ended his season so another doubt there. Lost Regan grace to french rugby union and lost woolf to the dolphins so gonna be unsettled. Hoskins peach garner will not look out of place put it that way

No apasai and kikau will even that up somewhat, but yeah the ESL isn't as competetive as the NRL, they are good tho, but probably just as good as the QRL cup, in terms of competition... we'll see how seriously we take it...
Probably a decade from now PENRITH will need to be split into 2 teams just from amount of winning that goes on (aka Dragons/Sharks in '67)

These are good points. St Helens have plenty of disruption too

I think we run out like this

Edwards - Captain
May - suspended 1st 2 rounds. Bye in round 3 he needs gametime
Tago - Injured in World Cup so will be fresh

Turuva
Cole
Cogger
Eisenhuth
Kenny
Sorensen
Garner
Hoskins
Salmon

Luke
Peachey
Smith
Blacker

Good chance to give some fringe guys meaningful game time

Need to play both Cleary & Luai or the ESL fan will just think we are taking the piss, then the excuse for losing would be coz the st Helen side had certain key outs, not that penrith are that good we didn't waste our 1st graders on someone like St Helens.. besides nate and romy will need some fitness too, even if thet get rested for the next trial

5 week pre-season though, Not sure it worth the risk considering both will play Origin and we don't want them burnt out

Don't get to play a foreign club every year..
Its only the premiers get that bonus challenge, besides, what if they aim up and beat us...
Braging rights are worth fighting for... or dragons beat them, but we couldn't (theyve got a trial with them too)

The ESL is a poor standard, They have a new coach a few players out. We win regardless

It will be our last match before rd1 and a rare chance to be crowned world champions in front of a full house at home. I think you will find our line-up will be close to full-strength as possible. Anyone in doubt or short of fitness won't play, but I can't imagine the club rolling out mugs.

Yeah, better to embarrass parramatta with a 2nd grade squad then potentially lose to an ESL premiership side... get your prioritys right, @lamback

Agree 100%. The players have a lot of pride in their performance and I can't see many not wanting to be part of the team winning the world club challenge.

we should be taking this seriously - a trophy that we are yet to receive and lift - that is the goal

fielding a half ass side only add fuel to the fire of our "arrogance"

We want to win this !!!

More than they do a premiership?
We don't have a bye post origin so I am not sure we rush it

There would have to be something in the agreement where a certain number of players/specific players must play unless injured. It wouldn't be a cheap exercise for St Helens, there's no way we should be allowed to run out our second team.

we have an additional bye this year - we are a good team no doubt about it, winning this furthers the current teams legacy and the fact we have not won this in 2 previous attempts - they can be the first Panthers team to win this trophy - that means something.

Don’t be fooled this saints team is bang average. The league has gotten weaker. Plenty of Wigan , Leeds teams over the last 10 years beat this saints team comfortably. The only nrl standard player who would start games at quite a few clubs would be Tommy makinson

NRL would be funding it, Lets be serious here even the Reserve grade side the Dragons will run out against them is better than most sides they will play during their season

We have a bye in Round 3
Then 2 during Origin
Neither are really helpful when the guys need a rest at the end of the year, I'd trade that round 3 bye for a Round 24 bye. I am sure the players would too

When Brodie Croft is the best player in the comp there are huge issues
