I was wandering through the BBC sports website and I noticed that tonight's Scotland Romania WC match was being played in Murrayfield.
This surprised me as I thought the WC was in France exclusively. Can one of you fellows tell me the rationiale behind this, how it all came about and how many other matches are not being played in France.
Much obliged.....
yeah... Murrayfield and the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff are hosting matches in the world cup.
official lines say that Scotland and Wales are helping the FFR with the congested schedule but thats a load of sh*t.
when voting went for who was going to host RWC2007 the FFR(France) and RFU(England) were the two bids... the FFR knew that it was going to be hard to get WRU(Wales) and SRU(Scotland) to go against england so they decided to offer those 2 sides home games during the tournoment in return for there votes. the SRU got the arse end of the deal because Cardiff is hosting a 1/4 final also... which ironically enough means that after argentina's upset over france it will more than likely be the all blacks against france in cardiff... negating the french home advantage.
all sorts of dodgy deals go on behind closed doors when the bids are made.. i know when NZ won the hosting rights for RWC2011 deals were done with the likes of Argentina for the All Blacks to tour them regularly over the next 10 years.... the NZRFU deny it ofcourse but everyone knows whats going on...
