Get your heads out of your arse CBA players association and think of the wider world of RL for a change. The NRL has nothing to do with the world cup it is a RLIF competition. No one is getting NRL wages for this gig so what are you protesting over?

You could have made a stand during your golden goose Origin series but you bottled it! You are playing games with RL fans from all over the world you insular sods!! The world doesn't start and finish with the bloody NRL!

I don't do twitter but is there any way anyone can tweet the following (or similar) to the players (especially Cameron Smith, who is a leader and smart as well):

"NRL players! The NRL has nothing to do with the World Cup, it is a RLIF competition. A WC boycott is therefore pointless."

Well Jim from Oz, I just happen to know you are a big union (as in trade union) man, but this has to be the worst collective action I've seen in a long time. They can't all be that dumb can they? This is like working full time for McDonalds and demanding they pay you more by refusing to work part time at Hungary Jacks.

If the players do this, I'll refuse to watch the NRL again. I'll support my local club and local juniors but never attend or watch a professional player in that comp ever again. It is utterly selfish. I've done the boycott before. I 1997 I did watch a single game of footy in the entire year and because a lot of other people did the same, it worked.

Ozenzud, you are spot-on, I am a big union (as in trade union) man, and I've been on more strikes than you've had hot dinners on a Sunday night. So generally I am all for collective action – but for NRL players to threaten to boycott the World Cup over their CBA is the worst, dumbest and most idiotic thing I've heard of in a long time.

Ozenzud, I also like your McDonald's/Hungry Jacks comparison … I would also compare it to being a worker at Woolworths and, with all your fellow unionised Woolworths workers, undertaking a huge collective bargaining discussion with your bosses at Woolworths, then telling the bosses at Woolworths that if we don't get what we want, we are going to stop buying our groceries from Coles !

Yours
Disgusted unionised worker of Coogee

On the up side their will be more of an awareness about the upciming world cup. I know its not ideal however it does give the world cup some decent airplay.

Even from the UK I'll boycott the NRL if this strike goes ahead. No merchandise, no tv subscription etc. Feck the greedy bar stewards.
