Eddie Paea - even I had a laugh at that.

What foresight from the author to put Burgess at #1 though. He'd barely played a handful of games in 2007. Five years on and he's the probably in the Top 5 players worldwide.

Look at the top 2 names. The journalists were pretty spot on as they are probably the best 2 players in the world right now!

Most of the names on that list are hopeless showing that either a) junior talent is very hard to transfer to top grade or b) journos have no idea about the game they supposedly report on.

It would be interesting if anyone is bored enough to compile a top 50 list of players in the same age group that are playing today.

I assume the criteria was those born in 1988/1989... so guys like Foran, Dugan, Ferguson etc. would be ineligible.

Manly: Cherry-Evans, Buhrer
Parramatta: Hayne, Sandow
Brisbane: Gillett, Glenn, Hoffman, Reed, Barba*
Melbourne: Bromwich, Proctor, Chambers
New Zealand: Locke, Matulino, Tomkins
Cronulla: Fifita
Canberra: Fensom*, Thompson
North Queensland: Linnett*, Tamou
Penrith: McKendry, Grant
St George Illawarra: Widdop, Merrin
Wests: Lawrence
Gold Coast: Taylor
South Sydney: Burgess
Sydney City: Waerea-Hargraves, Pearce, Kenny-Dowell, Jennings
Canterbury: Tolman, Reynolds, Williams, Hodkinson

Newcastle: NIL

I think that's most of them, ones in green are those on the list to go on to play rep footy (CvC, SOO, or AUS/ENG/NZ). The rest weren't on the list but have gone on to play rep footy, except Barba, Fensom and Linnett who are just off rep footy.

Thanks for the effort, not as many standouts as I would of thought but they did miss some glaring examples.
