I'm sorry, but compared to Vince Fawcett and Dean Sampson, Thorman was a very good player who should have been used much better than what he was......

No he was an average player that was made to look worse with the weak pack we had at the time i admit that but to say he is a very good player is bullsh*t.

I thought that Thorman was quite good. The issue at Parramatta is the first grade and the premier league play a different type of game. This is probably due to the fact that we dominate the Premier League but not the NRL.

So he couldn't adapt when he had the chance at the higher level.

Best ever imports:

Sorry sweetheart - but Michael Sullivan has been an unqualified disaster in the ESL! Even given his preferential spot as a halfback - he has bombed. Big time!

And Andrew Tangata-Toa - haha! Iactually used to coach a junior side that often played against his team when he played for Hurstville United as a kid - and all he ever used to do was fall over. A lot! Never thought he'd really crack it in the NRL - looks like he's no good in the ESL either!

Didn't you call Sonny Bill Williams "Sonny Boy" on here once?

Sorry "sweetheart" but Sully's preferred position is hooker, not halfback.
MICHAEL Sullivan is giving out nothing but good vibes as the new season approaches.

The Australian reveals Warrington Wolves are fresher, fitter and more confident for engage Super League XII compared to last year.

And, while pushing for a place in his preferred hooking role this year, he cannot wait for the season to get started against Wigan Warriors at the JJB Stadium on February 9.

It's ok darlin' - no need to apologise! :p But I'm afraid Michael Sullivan, until relatively recently in his career - was a halfback. And most definitely asked - or was otherwise certainly asked by the club - to play halfback when he went to the UK.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Sullivan_(rugby_league_footballer)

Paying particular attention to the line: "His position of choice is at halfback, though he also plays occasionally at hooker or in somewhat of a utility position"

And yes - I know that's only wikipedia and therefore is possibly written by some random fan or fans from their subjective point of view - but I have heard these words from his very own mouth in an interview on the Footy Show before he left - and read innumerable times in the paper & Rugby League Week etc how delighted & excited he was to finally be returning to the poition he had played almost his entire junior, and some of his early senior NRL career at - which was halfback.

And he's a cack one - apparently!

some of them are decent players - well they were until the ESL ruined their careers.

if you don't want more of that happening, well stop importing players from here then.

He was actually a 6 not a 7 and he made his nrl debut on the wing...

I'm sorry, but you're wrong. About his long-held junior position anyway, I'm prepared to believe you that he probably did make his debut on the wing - 'cos Cronulla have had some WACKY damn coaches over the past few years!!

And you're a Cronulla fan by the looks to boot - u should know this!

This is just one of dozens of articles I could reference about him. Here's just one from the Sydney Morning Herald in 2004:

http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2004/05/29/1085641766910.html?from=storylhs

"A former halfback with North Sydney who joined Cronulla three years ago in the belief his prospects were limited at the Northern Eagles because of the presence of Brett Kimmorley, Sullivan is now happy playing second fiddle to the Sharks captain."

Besides the fact, that as I've mentioned - I have heard from his very own mouth - the words "I played halfback all through my junior career and I really would like to get back there - that's why I'm so excited about going over to join Warrington" - or words VERY similar to that effect! Remember when the gambling thing first broke with him? Channel 9 had him as a sideline commentator, and they had him on the footy show to talk aout things & all - he was everywhere for a few weeks, and I heard him say that more than once - this wasn't that long ago - I remember it mate! ;-)

He made his debut on the wing for the northern eagles, two years before he joined the sharks. Played 6 for the bears due to orford and taylor playing pl while he was there. He wanted to be a seven but most coaches saw him as a 6 or 9. I'd like to be a prop - but i'm not.

He may well have played some five eighth - if required to - but right from under bloody 6's or whatever, until FORCED to do otherwise. He was a halfback. A pure #7. Again I say - I have heard him say this multpile times himself!

But - if you can find me a source on what you say above - that he has always been a five-eighth - and I'll believe you.

I'll be generous - Just the one source will do. :)

And I will also refrain from posting up the dozen or so other sources I could find in about 5 minutes flat that say otherwise afterwards....Fair enough?

Yeah, yeah - a big fan! The next time I want some pretty-boy failed halfback/so-so hooker with more looks than substance to come round and lead the kids I coach astray - and teach them how to correctly feed a lobster into a poker machine - he'll be the first bloke I call!

Just hope for his sake he's not holding his breath by the phone for that call...

I am heavily involved with the Junior RL scene - and have been for many years now - and you tend to hear things about certain players when they are young, travelling in these circles. I just have a very good memory.

Most of what I regurgitated I only learned when looking this all up yesterday, however...it's not rocket science.
