What is the worst gig you have been to ....When your expectations where quite high.

INXS.
At their peak at the Syd Ent Cent....I went along for the ride with a bunch of friends.
I was never into them, but they were very famous at this stage and at the least I expected a damn good performance.
It was shyte......every song sounded exactly like the record....which at a gig made them sound piss weak.

The Church
3 hours of obscure B sides and adlibbed instrumentals.
No hits

Ed Kuepper
snoooooooooooooooozzzzzzzzzzzzzzeeeeeeeee.

....and I thought Pearl jam were a bit of a let down

The Vines at Big Day Out 2003. Highly Evolved had just came out and i really quite liked that album. Live however was pitiful.

Jimmy Eat World, early 2003. The singer was clearly not into it, as he got the words wrong or plain just forgot them in song after song after song, and consistently played the wrong notes.

The support band, a then-unknown The Pictures, were however fantastic.

Black Eyed Peas at BDO...

Granted they aren't particularly a favourite of mine and I would never pay to see them on their own, but I was looking forward to dancing like a tool and busting out some nice wigger moves after eleventy beers during their set.

They were woeful.

Papa Roach were also an abomination when I saw them live. the lead singer was too busy jumping around like a moron that he couldnt even find the breath to sing all the words. Pitifulm pitiful band.

Whitesnake at the Hordern.

I love them but the sound was awful, Coverdale had a cold and Steve Vai didn't tour.

My (now ex) girlfriend dragged me to Panic! At the Disco last year. It's not that they were that bad, but..

Fat little emo kids everywhere, signing along with the singer so you couldn't even here the words. To make it worse, they covered 'Karma Police' by Radiohead and 'Tonight, Tonight' by Smashing Pumpkins - which were the only 2 songs I heard, because the little emo posers had never heard them before - but when the recordings were put up on Youtube, someone commented "Radiohead ripped this song off Panic I heard"...ffs!

It happens when you get older Bumble.

I remember when I was in a record store talking with the store clerk about general stuff and we were commenting Jet sounded alot like You Am I in their styling and pace

The kid responded with "Jet are the best band ever. They are trailblazers. They will make sure that You Am I get their second record made"

 That's awful

Jet wouldn't be half as bad if they didn't rip all their lyrics and riffs off old bands...a couple of years ago some guy had a brilliant hate side dedicated to them, highlighting their bullsh*t...I wish I could find it again!

Saw Steve Kilbey last Saturday night and he is atill an asshole.

As for me, the worst gig I have been to was probably The Strokes at The Hordern last yr. They just looked and sounded exhausted.

I've had the unfortunate Vines experience a few times, never by choice. Firstly dragged to watch them by mates at BDO 2003. I left after two songs and watched Beast Of Bourbon on my own.

Second time, dragged by the then missus to huddle in a tent to watch their god awful performance at last years Homebake.

Eskimo Joe, whilst sh*t, literally put me to sleep at Homebake 06.

Other noteables -

* The Spazzy's - Opening for The Casanovas - Backdoor @ Panthers - 03

* Modular Lounge - Opening for Incubus - Ent Cent - 04.

Just off the top of my head anyway.

Btw on Jet, I did a tafe course in studio production in Year 12, the two "teachers" (one plays with The Porkers, the other a vigilante drummer who whores himself out to everyone) said that "Are You Gonna Be My Girl?" was originally an anonymous submission to their label and absolutely none of it is original "Jet" (even if it is a total Iggy Pop ripoff).

Sounds like utter bullsh*t, but if true, it wouldn't surprise me.

When I heard Panic! did TT and Karma Police I lost faith in humanity.

Blink 182 at the Hordern last time they came out.
They sucked, there was no banter between them and the crowd, and hardly played any of the good, older songs. And of course, none of the little homos in the crowd knew these older songs. They didn't want to be there, I didn't want to be there.

Chill Peppers last time.
Saw them at SFS in about 2001, but this time sucked.

And on Jet...
Are You Gonna Be My Girl is simply a boot-scooting song played to the tune of Lust for Life. Seriously. Get a kind of banjo riff in your head, and sing these words with an Arkansas accent:

I said a 1 2 3, take your hand and come with me, because you look so fine and I really wanna make you mine...

And that Bring It All Back song may as well have been penned by Oasis in 1994.

I would love to hear a Frank Sinatra Style cover of The Beautiful People by Marilyn Manson. I have always thought that song should have been a swing song.

I read a story about Tim Rogers going into a KFC where he overheard some kids bagging him out.

They said something like check out the old bloke with the Jet haircut.

Little merkins.

He got a haircut .

Worst gig? Smashing Pumpkins in i think 98 ( not the first tour) after the release of their at the time new album at the Horden. They were absolute crap that night and only played Bullets as the only song of Mellon Collie.
