I just watched Game 2 from 1982 and Tony Melrose had a shocker on the wing. Made no impact and was dominated by Ribot/Miles comprehensively.

From all the Origin games i've seen/watched Melrose would be one of the worst players to play Origin.

Queenslanders whinge about Gallen's whinging more than he actually whinges.

Despite what you said about QLD fans, our whinging is fans whinging. Gallen's whinging is a bonehead crying girl masquerading as a tough footy guy. If you think from your viewpoint that a fan's whinging is pathetic, take a look at your pathetic crying girl Captain.

Duke would probably win this award on reputation. Selected on his performance for Country after they got flogged 47-3 and his most memorable contribution to Origin is dropping a pass in his own in-goal from Phil Sigsworth, otherwise known as the original Hodges. From memory he actually had a couple of good touches in the game and performed as well as you'd hope till that fateful moment that ended up costing Blues the first ever series against the Maroons.

PHIL Duke

That is all.

I'm with you blokes. Phil Duke wins this hands down. A player who was out of his depth thrown to the wolves by NSW selectors by picking him from the Country team after he played 1 good game. The last true "bush player" to be picked for NSW.

He was the first bush player. Paul Field from Cootamundra played in games 2 and 3 in 1983 and Rex Wright from Newcastle played in the first game of 1984.

I vote Quinn.

Merritt I thought deserved a run...but he did fail pretty badly.

How Quinn ever got picked......
