Would the loss of Johns to Union be a 'major blow' to RL

I acknowledge and respect that he is a great player but I think his best days are behind him and others are taking over the mantle of top shelf players (see D. Lockyer).

League will continue to generate new, exciting, highly talented players to replace those who leave for the alternates of Union, England or seclusion.

I think we have so far successfully survived without Sailor and Tuquiri.

Would be sad to see Johns go BUT life would go on for RL.

Losing him to the dark side is unfortunate.

He's a good player, no doubt. The game will survive without him. Newcastle will survive also. He is just one man. He is not the game itself.

There are a great number of current players who will step up to take his place (Lockyer, Orford, Kimmorley) and who have already done so in his protracted layoffs over the last 3 seasons.

I watch the junior players ( 6 -12) go around each week and any number of them have the ability to rise to the occasion when their time comes. The talent base is deep. And that is just in my little corner of the world.

It is a sad state of affairs for Rugby Union that they see the need to 'poach' him. Is there no one is NSW who can play in that position ? Surely the talent coffers are not that bear ? Where is the 'young gun' toiling away in a park somewhere just itching to do his best for his team ?

Wish him luck, wave him goodbye and look forward to the future I say.

Totally agree, no-one is irreplacable. With youngsters like Billy Slater, Karmichael Hunt, Luke Lewis, Matthew Head...I think the game is in pretty safe hands

I cant stand him for making a media circus of the event.............despite the fact he admitted he wanted it to be a low key affair............its turned into a debacle.
