Would you give up your DNA for a federal database?

Well would you?

Does Ancestry.com count?
It always amuses me how many people will happily give up their DNA for what is essentially a vanity project but would be super against the govt having it. Personally for me it’d depend on the purpose of it. If it was for some scientific purpose that was beneficial to humanity, then I likely would. If it was just an ID thing I’d have to he convinced that there was a worthwhile benefit to me.

In my case, it confirmed the origins of certain family. Lots of speculation for decades, and the older rellies are becoming less, so I thought I'd remove the guesswork. It was actually pretty interesting.

No way. Our cyber security isn't up to it.

We're told not to use the same passwords across accounts but governments want us to store everything under 1 account.

If its important information to you try keep it offline.

My little sister found a half sister that had been looking for family for 40 years. That shit is pretty cool

How does having your DNA recorded affect your personal security?

A Florida man named Jared Vaughn was recently charged with rape after he bought a consumer DNA kit, uploaded his genetic code to a genealogy tracing web site, and, unbeknownst to him, matched to a DNA sample taken from when he allegedly assaulted a college student back in 2007, Insider reports.

Oh it’s pretty cool and I’m actually going to do it myself soon too. I just think people sometimes forget the amount of intimate information they’re actually giving away.
