Would you support a Cronulla-Stgeorge-Illawarra Merger?

I believe that the Sharks spot in the NRL is safe for at least 5-10yrs. But if the worst happened (I believe it could) and we were forced to merge with St George-Illawarra would you support and attend games of this new team.

I would fight to stop this merger, but if it happened as I love rugby league and the team would still be in a lesser way representing our area I would support and attend this new club's games.

I did some research and the populating of this team's supporter base would be around 700 000 people covering a huge area. So if this merger happened the new team would be safe for potentially ever.

The NRL will eventually look at the NRL returning to a national comp and for that to happen I don't believe Sydney can sustain 9 teams, some body will have to go.

I believe one team would have to merge and another probably South’s will be relocated to the central coast.

So my question is if Cronulla were forced to merge with ST-George Illawarra would you, support it, prefer they moved to the central coast, or would you stop supporting rugby league in general.

I hope this is something we never have to worry about but in the long term it is something that may happen

We can stick our head in the sand on this, but sometime in the future it is a possibility, not short to medium term but long term. I would hate it, but we want West Tigers fans to be happy with their merger. I just wonder how we sharks fans would handle it?

Well I know I'll be unpopular, but we should have merged with Illawarra and St.George with Souths.

Considering we have to compete with one team one town clubs this made more sense to me.

If the sharks did ever I die I would still support and coach RL.

I hope you are right Booyah. It would be my worst nightmare.I did some research and Cronulla have close to the smallest population of any team in the NRL and that worries me a little.

Whilst being selfish I hope we never have to worry about it but I agree with Mr Angry I would support any team that represents our area, eventually it may get harder and harder to compete with these one town clubs, and it might not be our choice to stay a stand alone club. The NRL or us having a lack of money, might make the decision for us

It won't happen. We would relocate before we merged with them. The new developement will see us stand alone comfortably.
