FANS SHOW SUPPORT FOR MORRIS
Sunday, May 24, 2009
Wests Tigers five-eighth John Morris has received plenty of support from fans wanting him to stay after reports had him linked to England.
The Daily Telegraph reported on Friday that Wests Tigers would be looking for a new five-eighth to partner half-back Benji Marshall as Morris had already secured a deal for next season to play in the English Super League.
Fans have since inundated this website expressing their support for Morris.
“The report could not be any further from the truth,’’ Morris said.
“I am very happy at Wests Tigers and the club has been great to me.
“It is disappointing to read that news because my intentions are to stay with the Wests Tigers.’’

Well, WT seem to be going out of their way to promote JMo and retain him- isnt that the job of his agent not the WT? Shouldnt they remain neutral?

I think there will be a battle towards end of year with retention of either Morris or Halatau- one of them will loose. WT shouldnt talk up either until contracts signed for beyond this year.

Sounds like a contract re-negotitation is around the corner for Johnny....Wests Tigers manipulating the media, trying to convince us he's wanted.....just like at the start of the year. Wouldnt surprise me if the initial ESL story was concoted by WTs....

Unfortunately I think you're more right than wrong.

On current form I'd rather retain Morris than Halatau, but not as the 5/8 - rahter the versatile player able to cover a few positions, and as fallback for hooker if Farah gets injured (or rep duties if he is lucky) and good defensively but yank him off when the attack time comes.

BUT, at reduced money- if he wants to chase the money- time to say 'bye bye'- we can no longer afford such failed indulgences as we have given Sheens with the way he plays (and pays) Morris the last few seasons.

you'd hope.

Why resign him and then park him on the bench.

I'm sorry, but if Morris is going to be resigned, he will keep his spot in the starting line up.

Taumataa will partner Lewis in the halves in reggies, which will give the reggies a better combination in the halves than in the top grade.

Morris would be better as an impact player off the bench for tigers. He had 1 decent season at 6 at parra when in the halves with timmy smith but other than that he's ordinary in the halves. I wouldn't b surprised if tigers try for finchy

I wouldn't be surprised if Morris had his contract extended by an extra 6 years, before retiring and being promoted to head coach.

I know a few Tigers fans off here and not one of them thinks that Morris is worth keeping, let alone as a 1/2.

If they're getting emails of support, they're doing it themselves.

Mate, seriously, you need to check out something disturbing and very sickening. Go to the tigers official site, look through the news for this story (I think its on the third page now) and look at all the supportive comments that have been submitted supporting Johnny.

I made a post but because It was wishing ian roberts to give him some back door action and infect him with Aids, then wishing swine flu on him in the hope it would lead to pnuemonia which would eventually kill him, I think it was deemed unneccessary and not published.

f**king politcial correctness.

I didn't even use swear words.

Maybe they are still bitter over the Ian Roberts-Garry Jack incident. I can't see how there would be any other problems.

Wow, that is really sickening. One 1/2 arsed disagreeing message and all the rest are in support....

That website is f**king scary.

The story purported that Wests Tigers fans were showing Johnny support, then conveniently provided an outlet to do just that....propaganda at its finest, eh mulli?
Goebbels would be proud.
