Maybe NRL could say we'll hand over the documents at the same time Storm players and/or managers hand over their copies of the contracts.

HTML:
dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/nrl/storm-players-asked-to-supply-contracts/story-e6frexnr-1225877696865

Anyway, I can imagine the the only documentation the NRL has is a single A4 sheet which has the following:

Did the Storm cheat in 2006 [tick]
Did the Storm cheat in 2007 [tick]
Did the Storm cheat in 2008 [tick]
etc

2006 penalty imposed for cheating: Points and/or minor/major premierships removed

2007 penalty imposed for cheating: Points and/or minor/major premierships removed

2008 penalty imposed for cheating: Points and/or minor/major premierships removed
etc

Misc: Fines etc.

No, the rest of the code and the codes fans are victims as well.

Direct your anger at your own club who created the mess (like the rest of us), not at the NRL who had to act.

Agitate to vote your Board of Directors out at the next opportunity. Think about the reasons they are launching legal action, could one of them be to "look good" amongst the membership base and ensure their own re-election?

I agree, were all in the same boat. But we''re i.e. League fans, victims of shoddy management which is what pisses me off more then anything.

Then why is all your bleating about the NRL and not your management? Pathetic.

+1

sick of this NRL bashing
i mean if the storm really did sit out the rest of the season
we would have just as much controversy and whinging and complaining
blah blah blah
stupid storm siege mentality
we're the victims
which is only possible because the NRL is trying to protect bellamy and the players as much as possible from the fall out
please
i cant wait until it all comes out and the players are found out

Storm papers should be available: judge

By Daniel Fogarty AAP Wed, 09 Jun 2010 17:43:13

A judge said he would be "staggered" if the NRL could not quickly produce key documents relating to salary cap penalties imposed on the Melbourne Storm.

The Storm are seeking a Victorian Supreme Court injunction to restrain the NRL from imposing salary cap breach penalties, which included stripping the club of their 2007 and 2009 premiership and preventing them earning competition points this season.

They argue the penalties announced on April 21 are in breach of NRL rules and the decision-making process in imposing them was not fair.

The case returned to court on Wednesday as the parties prepare for a likely August hearing.

NRL barrister Michael Colbran told the court he needed time to locate documents requested by the Storm about the decision-making process surrounding the penalties.

Justice Tony Pagone said most of the documents should be at "the fingertips" of the NRL.

He said he would be "staggered" given the recent investigation, if the documents were not readily available.

Storm barrister Pat Zappia said the club wanted access to documents detailing the timing of the press conference to announce the penalties.

He said the timing could represent evidence of pre-judgment of the penalty.

Justice Pagone urged the parties to quickly prepare their cases or risk missing the August hearing date.

"There are people knocking on the door who want this date," he said.

An August hearing would likely see the matter resolved before the NRL finals series which begins on September 10.

The matter will return to court for a further case conference on June 17.

While I'm not in favor of all this legal bullsh*t I was a bit gobsmacked by the excuse that the NRL would "need time" to come up with the relevant documentation. Surely the Victorian Supreme Court has been adjorned for a long enough period between direction hearings for both sides to get their ducks in a row. The NRL and News combined have deeper pockets that Moodie et al. Surely they can pay their lawyers to be as dilligent and organised as Myers, Zappia etc are bound to be.

We are dealing with what has been dubbed the biggest sporting scandal in Australian history; surely the NRL should come with any and all crucial information tucked under their arm and ready to present to the court. It's either a stalling tactic or incompetency...I'm yet to commit to which.

I know our administration is fairly disorganised for the most part but are they really THIS disorganised?

Newsflash mate, the Storm fans are victims.

What about the victims of teams who lost chances at the title because of your cheating team?

Every fan of the NRL is a victim, you just happened to have a bloody good ride over 5 years to soften the blow.

But the Storm fans are victims. They felt awful on the nights when they won their ill-gotten premierships. How shattered do you think they felt when Cameron Smith held up the trophy?

September 30 2007 and October 4 2009 were two of the greatest night of my life. The only time I was shattered was April 22 2010 when, due to questionable management rorting a system put in place to make the comp more even, the NRL took the premierships away.

Storm fans are victims, not because of the NRL but because the people in charge of the club were meant to be looking afer the best interests of the fans who buy memberships, merchandise, come to home games etc. I, for one, am personally betrayed by the deception of the administration and any players who are found out to be involved. The sooner people like this are banished from our great game and from our club the better.

And as a result of this, the game is much, much, much worse off everywhere. All the hard work has been undone. It's set the promotion of the code back to the stone age in Victoria and everywhere else in Australia probably views the game as a laughing stock.

The ramifications of this are far reaching for everyone involved in the game.

You aren't following here are you mate?
The idea from the NRL is to F U C K the opposition.
You do that by making them wait, making them burn their cash supply in waiting and making them sweat.
If these 4 dickheads taking this case to court don't have someone giving them money (a benefactor) or a sh*tload of it themselves, then they simply wont last it out.
On the other hand, even if they win this isn't a civil matter per se, so they wont be able to recover costs against the NRL
Theoretically, if this were to drag out, the legal bill could far exceed the fines and forced return of prize money handed out by the NRL, and that is won or lose.
Lets just hope the 4 f**kheads realise they are in the absolute minority and give it up.

I see you conveniently left out this part of my post
