why is it Rey V Taker?? i watched smackdown today and didnt the number 1 contender match end a no contest??

i was thinking it would be a triple threat.... although that would take an extra top level star out of the rumble...

-- There is talk that Booker T could return to World Wrestling Entertainment as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble. The multi-time champion has had discussions with WWE officials in recent weeks regarding a possible return to the company. Talks have been ongoing for some time now. Booker T is now accepting bookings. To book the 5-time WCW champion, contact his agent Bill Behrens at [email protected].

Christian's opponent will be decided in an 8 man over the top battle royal on ECW this week. The contenders are Shelton Benjamin, CM Punk, Evan Bourne, Matt Hardy, Vance Archer, Ezekiel Jackson, Kane and Yoshi Tatsu. I think it will be one of Jackson/Benjamin/Archer that he faces, with Punk being a smokey, the rest are no chance imo.

As far as the rumble goes, what I would like to see:
-Quick eliminations, last year we saw a superstar enter, dominate for 30 seconds, then slow down and wait for a new guy to enter for a minute. Every now and then someone got dumped.
-Number 1 and 2 go deep into the rumble. Every time I watch a rumble, I always like to see the battle between numbers 1 and 2 as superstars come and go. Michaels/Taker was a good battle for the entirity, as was Mysterio/HHH.
-Big guns separated. Again, last year we saw too many big names thrown into the mix too early. By number 20, HHH, Orton, Jericho, Punk, Rey and Undertaker had all entered the ring and it was just a whole lot of mid carders to come, with the exception of the Big Show.
-Mid carders get eliminations. Last year here is the elimination tally: HHH 6, Big Show 6, Taker 3, Kozlov 3, Kane 3, Orton 3, Rhodes 2, DiBiase 1, Rey 1, Punk 1, Kendrick 1, Jericho 1. Apart from Kendrick they were all main eventers/upper mid carders at the time. Kendrick lasted 22 seconds, so he was in, threw Kofi out, then was thrown out.
-Less long stints, in 2009 14 guys were in for at least 10 minutes, with 8 lasting half an hour (including guys who didn't even get 1 elmination)
-An unpredictable winner, yet a credible one. Don't give it away on the last Raw/SD before the rumble, keep us guessing until the 29th guy goes tumbling to the floor.

You're absolutely right shiznit, I read a report on another forum that said Mysterio won and I didn't bother to check it up. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. :)

Also I agree with your assessment Marshall, I'll explain how I'd book the Rumble match tomorrow, when I've had more sleep.

Awesome!! We haven't seen one of those with these people involved for at least two months!

Also Michaels to win the RR and to challange the Taker at WM

Is there any rumours of a HBK retirement? If he wins, takes on undertaker and wins, i'd say that would be a farewell title run would it not? + break the streak. I can't remember HBK's last title fued. He should be up there with HHH, Cena and Taker as having the championship once or twice a year.

Not too happy about that. I would've preferred the challenger to be in the RR tbh...

I don't mind it really. I can't see anyone from ECW doing anything in the rumble, except jobbing out to Raw/SD mid carders (who will in turn, job to the main eventers). Better he does something productive if he's going to get a push.

Undertaker vs Rey Mysterio

I think we'll get the Divas Championship tournament final on the card as well, and that would probably be it. That's how the Rumble should be, 3 main titles on the line, a divas match, and the rumble match.

Basically MM, although the ECW championship match is a bit of a waste, would've prefered a tag team match to change things up a little and give Christian a shot at the Rumble.

I can't believe how understated the Rumble has been so far. Deadset, it's one of the most important matches in the annals of WWE history yet so little has been made of it. Wrestlers should be teaming with one another, developing grudges against one another, spots should be up for grabs and wrestlers should be making their claim as to why they will win the Rumble. Add that and the idea of a wrestler debuting at the Rumble (This should happen more, you could really build a wrestlers credibility) and you've succesfully caught mine and I'd say a number of other fans attention.

Orton vs. Sheamus is a great match up if done right. Orton would be hell bent on reclaiming his title to the point where he feeds Rhodes and Dibiase Jr. to Sheamus in order to identify a weakness in his game. You could hint at more tension between Orton and his lackeys where at the Rumble they finally turn on him and cost him the match, setting up Dibiase Jr. vs. Orton at Wrestlemania.

That will be a f**kING awesome match tbh...

hmmm all heel affair, ive been out of the loop for a while but dont the WWE HATE all heel main events?
spose if it gets the strap off Shamus, so be it

I hope and pray the next long running title fued involved a face turn for Jericho and a fued with Edge, or vise versa

Keep in mind though that the Rumble usually goes for 60 mins. I don't think 4 matches will go the 2 hour distance - particularly with a Divas match involved. I'm hoping for an extra match with a stipulation.

It is my favorite EVER PPV. I even like it more than WM or No way out. I can't get enough of it. Best PPV there is. I also hope the #30 this year is a surprise, unlike the big show last year. ANTI-CLIMAX!!! who didn't even get in the final 4.

For some reason I love all heel affairs. They are more dramatic then heel vs face for me. Love them. I sure hope this is the main even before the RR match.

Wow thanks for highlighting my inane ramble BF.

I'm still trying to figure out what I was trying to say there.

EDIT: Oh I said understated...I thought it was understand!

Obviously I'm talking about the booking department. I mean it doesn't take a genius to promote the show but really more effort should go into promoting the titled match.
