i was speaking to my wife last night who has been on the gold coast for the past week, she asked me if i wanted any gold coast merchandise,my only ask was for half dozen yatala pies with potato and mushy peas on top, well they are less than 5 hours away, surely these are the greatest pies evermade on planet earth!!!!

we have had this debate before on worl where macavity swore they had ashop in newcastle which were the best, aer there any pie shops out there which can match ''yatala pies''?

cheers pepe

pepe, MAKETU pies, made in a small seaside town in nz,s bay of plenty, are without doubt the best pies in the world. they even have an award to prove it.
they use steak in their steak pies and real chicken in their chicken pies.
you have to try them...

With the pies again!

Pepe. The Yatala Pie Shop moved because of the new super duper motor way they built between Gold Coast and Brissie.
I heard they're not as good anymore and they put stringy bark in as a meat substitute.

ozbash,

apparently every pie shop on the planet has some kind of award pronouncing there greatness,it's time the fraud squad investigated,if you everget over here it is a must visit.

willow- i will let you know tomorrow if the quality has deteriorated, don't tellif it's been taken over by vietnamese owners.

i have heard they have renovated of late,my mates and i would always make it our port of call on the way to the goldie,we would wash it down with the apple pie, live surely does'nt get any better than that!!!

Actually Pepe, there's a very good pie shop here in Labrador - drive through and all.

BTW, how did the house search go?

she was looking at coomera yesterday and did'nt mind it,we will rent for a while so we don't want to break the budget, about $165 for a town house, helensvale is around $200 for a decent house.

the rents seem to beout of proportion to the house prices,we can pick up a decent house for 130-140k what i have seen on the net.

she was saying labrador is an older area, dad is retiring on the goldie soon so i don't want to be to close if you know what i mean,i think he is looking around ashmore,it must be close to the racetrack i would imagine, sandra did'nt think much of ashmore anyhow.

I work in Ashmore. So don't ask me about that area :)

Coomera is a fair way up but it's developing fast. Still plenty of bush and the motorway has opened up the whole region. You might recall the crappy pot-holed highway that existed before...sort of like living in NZ.

Labrador is an older area but up here old is 30 years. My house was built in the mid sixties and is just about heritage listed.
You're right about the rents. You can buy a house, rent it out and that covers the mortgage repayments. It does seem to be out of proportion with most other cities.

Anyway, mate. If you're stuck, I'll let you have our back shed for $20 per week. Offcourse, you'll have to clean it out first. If you want, I'll let you use our back yard water tap, but that'llcost extra.

sandra arrived back last night, she said we will take you up on the shed offer, that appears to be the best deal she hascome across, can we negotiate about lowering the price to a more respectable price,we are prepared to fork out a maximum of $15 per week.(cheque of course)

i'm prepared to pay what ever price the real estates are asking, anything to put 2000 km's between myself and the mother in law.

bad luck about the saints, about on par with our performance against the eels,it can bea cruel game.

see ya, pepe

Looking forward to when you get up here, are you going to be here for the semi at anz?

The old yatala pies were bloody good. There are 2 other pie places in northern NSW that are bloody good as well.
The first is at Billinudgel about 10-20 min north of Byron. The other is in Byron itself , I am not sure what it was called but the shop had black and white checks all over it. The best beef and burgundy pie ever. So pepe when you come north if you drive make sure you stop at the Billinudgel pie shop, you wont regret it mate.

The pudding shop in Glebe (Sydney) has some pretty good pies. Steak, Tomato & Bacon x 2 with Sauce. Got to be one of the best meals in the world!

The gourmet pie shop in Albury....its near the cinema from memory, it has GREAT pies. They do all sort of fillings, and the taste is just first rate. They whip up a mean steak and kdiney pie, i have yet to be convinced that a better pie exists in australia....

A pie shop in Argenton, an outer suburb of Newcastle, has won the best pie competition at the Royal Easter show two years in a row. I've never tried one, but I hear they are very good.

I live about fifteen miles from it, but I actually drive past it every time I go to the football.
I have no excuses except that I always seem to be running late for the start of the Flegg game.
