I've heard this said by Blues analysers of Game 3:

The Blues played well in Game 1. Played worse in Game 2 and saved their worst for Game 3.

Yeah nah.

The fact of the matter is that NSW play as well as QLD let them. Simply that.

In most of the series that QLD have won since the fantastic side retired recently, they have had one game where they played so poorly that they sat back and watched NSW pile on points against them. Those losses really are from QLD efforts which were simply lazy and lacking commitment. Less than ascribing superiority to NSW in the series they won, and the games they won in the years that QLD lost since the Cleary era of Origin, the true contributive factor was the performance of the QLD side.

What that underlines for QLD is that careful cultivation of play ethics can hone those habits. Just as effective for success is training sessions about good habit awareness. Bring into the team habitual actions which replace complacent habits. Some of it is awareness and some of it is positioning. All of it requires staying switched on ignoring outside and inside distractions. Identification of bad habits. Substitution of good habits for bad habits.

Bill should work with the clubs and request the club coach to correct bad habits he sees in prospective QLD players during the Origin off-season. That way the club coaches have time and opportunity to develop their game further. To substitute good habits for bad and time for the player to incorporate the change into the way they play.

The benefit will be the the elimination of the bad habits will make the players' game better. They will see the benefit at club level and understand from learned experience why it is imperative at Origin level.

QLD can get a lot better than Game 3 2025.

One center had hardly any first grade games at all. One had been almost starved of first grade games at many clubs. Matched up against Latrell and Steven Crighton. Neither of whom gave the QLDers much trouble at all.

Yep. Wondering why you went missing after QLD lost last year. And why you weren't here for game 1 this year. And didn't post until after game 2 this year.
It's pretty funny imagining him sweating on the whole second half of Game 2, wondering if he'd still have an excuse to return here and clog up this whole sub for the first time in 12 months

Not all of Game 2 second half. I said to a friend I was watching the Game with, that NSW had the firepower to come back from the half-time score.

Except for Lomax's kicking NSW win the series, but miss he did. What I saw that didn't have me sweating the whole second half was a massive improvement in QLD's defence in the last 5 minutes of Game 2. There was plenty of time left for NSW to score one more try and overcome the 2 points they trailed by. However QLD defended that 2 point lead for the last 5 minutes.

I posted here that based on QLD's defence of the last 5 minutes, we could win the series.

Yes I sweated 35 minutes of Game 2 but was amazed by QLD's first half and final 5 minutes. As it turned out: The better team won the 2025 series. Special Thanks to Aaron Woods, Zack Lomax and Laurie Daley for services rendered to QLD.
