"You don't need to throw a punch to go to the bin"

removing punching from the game was one of the worst decisions I can recall

it just promotes foul play in the ruck on a continuous basis, just let them throw a few haymakers and be done with it

Punching was always removed. Was there ever a time you didn't get binned for throwing them? For every 1 that didn't there would be 5 who did.

Rugby League is not fighting.

If you want to watch fighting, there's plenty of boxing, kick boxing, MMA organisations with a plethora of shows put on every month that you can tune in to.

Thaiday made JWH his bitch. JWH is possibly the dumbest footballer in the comp.

People who have grown up with social media will think today's front rowers are treading a fine line . . . pity they'll never see a real engine room

Haha jwh would absolutely monster these "real props" because he is stronger and faster.

People on this forum hilariously underestimate the impact professionalism has had on rugby league. The facts are I could assemble a team made from backs only and they would absolutely demolish a team from say the 70s. Like Greg inglis would be smashing the best forwards of that era.

And if you want to watch wrestling or men grabbing, shoving and slapping each other there are other sports and no doubt plenty of oxford street clubs and internet porn sites where you can see that.

I'd rather have rugby league back but each to their own.

Even Cameron Smith, one of the seediest old blokes in the comp is over 90kg. Meaning he weighs more than half the props running around in the 70s.

All depends on what is allowed, some of the past Bulldog forwards would have JWH for breakfast, Mark Carroll would make a point of nullifying him and Roberts would have him out of breath after 60 minutes if he could even stand up that long. Give some of those old blokes interchange and open slather, crikey. As it is drop Lazarus in against him and no contest

League fans are a bunch of moaning cry babies. One week you are all moaning that refs don't take enough control when players act out, the next week they are taking too much control?

Id hate to be a ref. How can you be consistent when the arguments against you are inconsistent?

The fact people blow their loads over games that have stoppages galore, penalty goals, blokes lying down for penalties, cripple fight field goal shootouts and all the usual niggle, wrestle and handbags for 80 mins shows how much people have forgotten what the game is supposed to be.

It wasn't much of a battle, really. It was a knockout victory to Sam.

Thaiday let his football do the talking while the only contribution Hargreaves could make was to grab at Thaidays face.

Agreed Thiaday hit him hard all game. Hargreaves couldn't handle it so he repeatedly tried to kiss Thiaday for some reason.

Any reason why this can't happen as a rule and the 'bring back the biff' boofheads can keep quiet?

The argument that it's a contact sport therefore it gets heated, therefore you should be able to throw them is so basically flawed. It's a contact sport, which means you can wack a bloke legally if you're good enough. Sit him on his arse. Tell him about it. Hurt him with a powerful run, tackle or on the scoreboard.

The biff. Yawn.

I agree

No doubt the same bogans whose idea of letting off steam is to punch on

Dumb enough to think they speak for all fans as well

btw- what are some of the best running battles you've seen in a game?

Harrogan vs Carroll was epic. Their battle went for years and was a must see every time, red mist stuff for 80 minutes.

Could you imagine if that pair lined up against one another in origin?

This.

JWH is the biggest tryhard I have ever seen play the game.

If he less more time focusing on the tough guy act, maybe he throw less stupid offloads which put pressure on his team.

Rabs calling for a punch on and sin bin made NO SENSE at all; the best thing about that game was Thaiday owning JWH. Why would u want them sidelined just so you can see a couple of air swings.

Have to wonder about Rabs. Sometimes he can handle a joke, other times he gets all p!ssy. Half the time he's cracked the sh!ts with Gould for questioning the rulebook than he's calling for punch ons so we can see less of the man of the match. So hot and cold doesn't make for a good commentator IMHO.

I always remembered those first punch-ups being put on report and the participants being told to clean it up and play on, if they came together again and disrupted play then they got binned.
