You know who we really miss ?

Eric Grothe Jnr.

He is underrated and a very important player to our team who we are really missing right now! Not only his strong runs and power but the experience he brings to the team. I liked how he gave Hayne a blast earlier in the year on the field when he was out of position. This is what leaders should do even when it's the 'Chosen one' and unfortunately we don't see enough of this from our senior players.

Just my rant, but he was was an integral part of our success last year and I hope the club is smart enough to not let him go :?

Agree, but you can't keep them all. We have/had a hell of a lot of cash tied up in two wingers (Inu included). Other than Lote, I can't think of many teams who invest such a high proportion of their cap on wingers.

Guru has been good with his dummy half runs, but no better than a kid like Horo could offer. Time to move on methinks.

I totaly agree! After Hayne, Grothe is the hottest thing on the field!

And how can she lose motivation to attend games? We have Hayne ( who is basically the hottest player in the NRL, only LOD comes close), Poore Inu, Horo, Mannah, IMHO we have a very good looking team! And im not being biased at all :sarcasm:

Yeah my missus will be filthy if we lose guru, almost as much as me but for entirely different reasons. She is actually contemplating following him to whatever team he goes to.

mate, now that we've finally met over a few drinks and another bad Eels loss, I cannot take your rants seriously anymore :D

seriously though, I agree. We really do miss EGJ....just like EGJ misses Kevvy Kingston.

But yes, we seriously we have one of the best looking teams ever

Your opinion might change if Noddy signs for a year.

Guru > Hayne

They're a different type of hot. Hayne is the more ' im hot because im so talented' and Grothe is more the manly ( rough/rugged) type hot. I don't know if that makes sense but it does in my head. But yeah i think Hayne is more of an all rounder good looking face, nice body, etc etc the list could go on forever.

I miss his runs from dummy half and him fending half the opposition away.
But i don't miss his ordinary ball handling and his ability to get caught out in defence.

I'll miss guru though. One of my favourite players, but equally one of the most frustrating players to watch.

I think the club needs to look towards the future, and i'm not sure guru is part of it.

who do we miss this year.

A combination of players.

Combination being the correct wording here.

There are a few players either gone or injured.

Grothe, Kingston, Gulavao.

Grothe - we miss his runs from dummy half, those (sometimes iffy) offloads but his passion in the game, especailly his kick returns. yes his defence was suspect earlier on, but did anyone notice how towards the end of the year the way Reddy and Robson would slide across when Guru would go to make one of his in-field big hits? If not, check out the finals series, and some of the run home in the competition rounds.

Kingston - bringing him on in the second half when the oppostion would start to tire a little, fresh legs, a great dummy half runner and excellent "reader" of the defence for organising an attacking raid from dummy half. Also a good defender.

Smoking Joe - the experience and enthusiasm this bloke brought to the team is incalculable. Look at the games from last year and the impact he made on the team.

Individually those three are an asset to ANY team, but combined they help the Parramatta back bone last year and that's how we got a good roll on in games.

It would be great to see Guru back in action (and hopefully signed up for next year .. tho I have heard that they are after Tuiaki from the Tigers for next year), but maybe with Shackleton in full health and perhaps playing Anthony Mitchell in a similar role as Kingston, we may get back to that "end of 2009" form again.

but that's just my opinion !!!

Mate I can't argue with that ! Looking forward to catching up for another beer soon and hopefully this time an Eels win !!
