Young Bucks (Props time to step up)

With worse case scenario Ben Ross out for rest of season, its time that another young buck steps up Luke Douglas has cemented one front row position, who can step up and grab the 2nd, we dont want to shift Lance to prop as going great guns in backrow.

Stosic played ok, but doent look long term so who can be the other prop contenders

Luke Harlen - Had 1 match in firsts went ok, deserves another crack

Jacob Selmes - The big kid apparently played injured but going well

Jeremy Latimore - Junir Roo last year going well in premier League

What we dont want is Darrne Mapp, to be recycled give a young buck a go, or maybe someone else in lower grades sees now opportunity of a lifetime to come through the door, but dont knock smash it in, say i'm here

If Mapp gets promoted I will fire up like there is no tomorrow. I wouldn't even have him in PL to be honest, wasting space that someone else deserves.

Lucky Hutch will probably be back next week but, He will definately start with someone a younger prop coming off the bench. Stosic was prett solid tonight so I'd say he will come off the bench.

Mapp offers us a worker in the front row. Which would be good against quick sides but against the Dragons we need to fight fire with fire in the early part of the game so I wouldn't start him. We should blood Selmes and throw him in the deep end I reckon. Bailey will be backing up after playing the test so he won't be 100% and he would be starting with Douglas. Two young guys who will fire the hell up infront of a packed shark park with Thompson right behind them.

If you blood Selmes against a bloody good pack then maybe you keep a Mapp on the bench. He has nearly 100 games and we have a youing rotation as it is.

8. Selmes
9. Kinga
10. Douglas
11. Williams
12. Thompson
13. Gallen

Bird, Latu, Hilder(which would push Thompson/Williams up), Mapp(Maiava if fit)

Hmmm I just hope Raper rolls the dice for a change rather then sh*tting himself and playing old blokes.

if ross' injury is as bad as we fear then i'd say our first choice props will be hutch and douglas with stosic on the bench, back up in the shape of harlen and selmes in that order. how long is hutch expected to be out ?

given the success of douglas i think raper will be encouraged to give more youngsters a go so what with mapp's average pl showings i wouldn't expect to see him in fg too soon unless we hit a major injury glitch.

we'll bloody miss ross though dammit bloody buggery acl

At this time of the year it makes sense we try our young blokes.

Throw them in .. they sink or swim but jees we certainly find out what they have inside.

Hutch and Manua for mine. And we are extremely lucky to have a back rower who plays like a prop too - Lance Thompson.

If it's true that Mapp is on $220K per season. It's possible:
1 - he is a hypnotist
2 - Burgess (or whoever) was pyssed when he signed him up
3 - he snuck up and signed the contract when our officials' back were turned
4 - he's related to somebody high up in the club
5 - he's a De La old boy
6 - he's blackmailing somebody high up in the club
7 - he said he was Webke and our officials didn't know
8 - he said if we signed him he'd bring Lockyer and Berrigan with him and our
officials believed him
9 - one of our hierachy thinks he's a good looking boy and fancies him
10- all of the above.
Because, from what I've seen, he sure as eggs wasn't signed for his dominant forward play. Let's hope he proves me and everybody else wrong!

How about Dayne Weston? How long before he is ready for 1st grade?

Can I make a suggestion for a replacement for prop, Lance Thompson. Hear me out on this 1. I really think we need to move Bailey back into the 2nd Row, either put Beau Scott into the Centres or the young gun that plays in Premier League, the young Kelly who I thought showed some great strength against the Cowboys.

Just a thought

Can we just release Mapp now?

Id like to see this happen:

8. Douglas
9. Kinga
10. Clifford
11. Thompson
12. Wombat(Reece)
13. Gallen

14. Latu
15. Hutch
16. Bird
17. Selmes/Stosic(whoever is playing better at time of selection)

With that forward pack we go back to having 2 players with no lateral movement, Cliff & Hutch, we cannot carry those who dont do there share in defence.

If Hutch would have played v Panthers, he would have struggled to do as much work as Stosic when he came on, he seems to be lazy in defence, always last down ground on kick return as well
