The Sharks Jersey Flegg side kicked off the weekend of Rugby League in excellent fashion with a strong 26-2 victory over the St George Dragons.

After conceding a penalty goal in the early stages the Sharks then went on to dominate their opponents in what was possibly their most complete performance of the season to date.

The first try to the Sharks was scored by Jardine Bobongie, the second rower pouncing on a loose ball and outsprinting the defence in a 50-metre dash to the try line. The Sharks kept up the pressure and a clever backline movement from deep in their own half was again finished off by Bobongie who backed up to accept the last pass and touch down under the uprights.

Rangy lock Cameron Ciraldo capped off a non-stop performance by also crossing for a four-pointer just before half time, with the Sharks going to the break ahead by 18-2.

The under-20 Sharks never took their foot off the pedal and two second half tries, one to centre Stephen Ross, the other to hooker Kiel Roberts put the result beyond doubt.

While the attack of the Sharks was outstanding on the night, the defence was probably even better, holding their line intact despite numerous St George raids deep inside their own territory.

In a team without a poor performer, the Sharks were best served by Dimitri Pelo and Bronx Goodwin in the backs, Travis Burns was a constant threat to the Dragons defense at half back and Ciraldo was everywhere both in attack and defense. Up front Michael Greenfield and Pene Fiti were strong for the Sharks.

With the victory Aaron Raper's side creep closer to the top eight with a record of four wins and five losses. They will face a big test next weekend against the undefeated Sydney Roosters but if they can build on the form shown on Friday night will enter that match with an excellent chance of success.

Is this the team they are all talking about. That's the only St.George I can find.

Ah, Flegg. The only 100% pure local derby we've got left.

Well done boys, good to see the real Pride of the South get up again!! :D

It's always good to get a win up against St George.
Good effort against St George since St George bought alot of players this year (esp off Canterbury) for flegg generally because their own local juniors are crap in that age group. They were sitting around the top four on the ladder so it is definately a good win.
I have been a bit dissapointed with Flegg this year as they are a good side on paper but have not lived up to their potential in some games. They should really be in the top 8. Lets hope they put it together from now on.

I think we can describe them as being inconsistent. Their for and against is top 4 material, but we sit further down the ladder.

They were boosted nicely in that game by having Pelo and Ciraldo available, who will probably go back up to reserve grade this week.

Ali the above mentioned players have been in flegg for a few games now and have certainly proved to be a big difference.

This Jardine Bobongie looks to be one out of the box!

Ciraldo has been playing PL for several weeks. He probably had a run in Flegg because PL had a bye.

Pelo has been in Flegg for a few weeks . Both Ross and Pelo look too good to stay in Flegg for too long. They've both got a bit of size and pace about them, and would be an answer to our predominance of light weight wingers.

I haven't seen him play, but going by the fact is he spent a couple of weeks on the bench, I wouldn't be getting too carried away just yet.

Flegg will be tested strongly this week as the Sydney chequebook Roosters are undefeated. Due to Dumas being dropped from firsts, Ciraldo has remained in Flegg along with Pelo. We are in good form, it should be close.

I havent seen him play either but have noticed im on the bench like ali said. Hopefully ill get down there early and get my first look at him on the weekend.

I can see flegg being close as well. Roosters are going well and if we put it together like we did last week it will be a quality game.

And by the way, we had close to our biggest win against them last year. I think we put 50 past them. I think however the Roosters have kept all their stars like Ale and Hopoate in Flegg, whilst we have promoted ours.
