Chang Chang Chang Chang Chang............then daylight.
That's what I wanted to post but thought the young ones would not understand the total package that was Chang!
Speed like Slater, sidestep better than RTS, goal kicker like Lockyer and a heart like Phar Lap. Add that he was also captain then became captain and coach. He was a fullback and also played centre.....yet never demanded fullback money and most probably earnt shit. A true legend of a player and most worthy immortal.

Tim Moltzen?

Kidding obviously. My favourite Dragons fullback was Mick Potter, even though he came to the Red V from the grubs. I'd definitely rate him ahead of many of the fullbacks mentioned so far in this thread as well.

I remember when he finished up with us, we signed Rod Maybon from Souths as a replacement. I was very optimistic, but we really struggled with the fullback role until Luke Patten / Ben Hornby era.

Cant consider Simms or Barnes as they were basically great goal kickers that needed to play somewhere. The role of the fullback was changed forever in the early 50's by a big fat Frenchman Puig Abert who chimed into the back line to create a overlap . Fullbacks just didn't do that sort of thing ! It really wasn't until the 70's that Fullbacks became one of the most important offensive players in a teams make up.

Changa , Churchill , Eadie , Slater have been good value.

Puig Aubert, churchill, les Johns, kevin longbottom, Changa
Johnno , Kevin Longbottom ?? Where did you pull that one from ? He was that average that slog Simms ( who was a all time great goal kicker and a very good defensive fullback ) replaced him. Les Johns was talented but got the nickname dandruff as he was always out injured .

Longbottom was the first fullback I can remember seeing at a game. I remember him for two things:
1. He kicked a goal from over halfway which was pretty impressive.
2. He split his shorts during the game. When you're 8 years old there's nothing funnier then a bloke called longbottom splitting his shorts.

I cant think of any other fullbacks who have made me laugh so hard, and not many who kick goals that far. So he goes on the list.

Would have loved to see Puig Aubert play though. Only ever heard stories of him. If half were true he must have been something special.

Eric Simms may hold a record that will never be broken .

He kicked 86 field goals in 1st grade in his career (1965 to 1975). Of course they were worth 2 points then. He kicked 29 in 1968 alone and kicked 20 in 1970.

Johnson was one of my all time favourite players. I cant pick five because they had different playing styles and the game has evolved. But the following were all brilliant:
Langlands
Goodwin
Johnson
Belcher
Eadie
Jack
Mullins
Slater
