Well he won't pass his medical with us today if he's not first grade fit. They'll take skinfolds and all.

Perverse you don't think Gidley giving bedsy a rest at hooker allowing Roberts to be injected at halfback for 20-25 minutes wouldn't offer more than carrying another useless Hilder 15 minute cameo into a game?

I don't think we'd lose much with Bedsy going off to allow

6. Mullen
7. Roberts
9. Gidley

which in turn would allow us to rest Bedsy for a proper 20 minutes. I guess it could be seen as a disruption to our already unstable halves but Hilder is so far off first grade standard this year and Roberts given instructions to run direct and sniff around for offloads could be a game breaker in a 20 minute stint.

definitely an option. i hadn't considered it. Hilder is wasted space, he isn't even playing as well as he has in the past. i think the instability in the halves is the only thing that may go against it. i would prefer to carry Roberts than Hilder. Hilder, for all the praise i have heaped on him in the past, now looks well out of his depth.

Its hard to see exactly what has happened to Waltzing over the off season but he looks like a shadow of is former self. He ws our Mr Cleanup in defence last year but perhaps given our new defencive structure, is role has become a bit superfluous and he is now trying to fit into a different mold.

Whatever it is its just not working

A jib is a sail but 'I like the cut of your jib' is like ... 'I like your style'

Bzzzzt, you're incorrect. The correct answer is "hahaha promote that man"

Way to miss the obvious Simpsons reference.

maybe something like that? who knows. Mason in the team changes things. i would definitely be rushing him straight in. as RABK has said, he has been training outside of footy. he shouldn't be too unfit. Hilder only in for lack of options to give Bedsy a break. Costigan on the bench may be a solution to that.

There is no way I would be rushing Mason into the run on side, especially at prop. The seasons been going for 7 weeks and the bloke hasn't even played a game of reserve grade. He may well be fit in the cardiovascular sence, but his body is not at all used to the collisions that being a rugby league player brings. If he went straight into the run on side, I can either see him getting injured or having a very quiet game. At best I would put him on the bench, but ideally I'd give him a game in reserve grade then select him the following week.

i'd rush him in, and it would be up front. he doesn't have to play massive minutes, but he would be there for sure. having said that, i haven't seen the bloke in 18+ months. realistically none of us are qualified to make the call, but if i could get 30+ quality minutes out of him, he'd be there for mine.

you're probably right, though. it would be remarkable for someone to come straight into the NRL after being away for 1 1/2 seasons. i was extremely rattled by what i saw against the dragons. we were gutsy, but so out-muscled that it was embarrassing.

I'd have Mason on the bench. We need a solid start and i doubt mason will offer us 'solid'. He'll either have an amzing start or a horible one. If we start with Snowden and Tui, it'll set a platform for Mason and hopefully he'll come out all guns blazing.

House came straight in to our side after 12 months on the sidelines. Why not Willie?

Did house come back for the first game of the season when everyone else was still finding their feet? Or was it round 8 when every other players bodies were conditioned to the rigors of the NRL?

It wouldn't surprise me if the team was able to get 30+ minutes out of him. The question I would ask is, would they be good minutes? I've seen many forwards over the years miss a chunk of the season and then come straight into first grade. What generally happens is their timing is a bit out and they get dominated in tackles due to other players being much more conditioned to NRL footy.

I feel you already know the answer to that question ;-)

Yes, its a bit different this situation with Willie but Im not sure its enough to discount the possability of it happening. The NSW Cup is still going ahead this weekend so it may be a good opportunity to give him a game before Rd 8

Mase and Laurie change the landscape of our go forward remarkabky if they both aim up. Two very big lads waiting for a chance to put it up the doubters. Snowy, mase and Laurie in rotation over 80 could be devastating.

Yep very true. Then blokes like Taia can create havoc once given some room to move.

Eddy needs to learn how to make metres and not drop the ball if he wants back into first grade

He hasn't really shown anything that indicates he's capable of making metres since coming into FG. Was he ever more then a big hitter in the lower grades?
