Mobility in the pack is what counts, not size
thats why Souths won, the pack is big AND mobile, they lose a lot of that with Burgess leaving but the other Burgii are mobile, and so is their back row. Grant is a little sluggish, so that will cost them

Close-Peni Terepo, Brad Taikarangi, Joseph Paulo (hopefully not), Mitch Allgood, Darcy Lussick, Bureta Faraimo, Beau Champion

****Who knows what's going on there. Obviously he's in our best side if he does come.

I've named 18 because of Watmough, and because even if he does come I can see a horses for courses approach with the bench. I would have both hookers, De Gois surprised me last year and he and Peats are easily our strongest defenders, which is an area we lack. Peats can still play 80, he is more than capable of playing lock and defending in the middle as a 13, and so is De Gois. Obviously without Watmough they shift up, Gower or Tepai into the back row and Pauli or Peni Terepo onto the bench. Maybe Peni, he's more of a prop option.

Strength is the pack (strength=relatively speaking). It's pretty handy. Not a competition winning pack IMO but definitely a good one, if young. Tepai, Paulo, Ma'u, Edwards, Pauli will all be better for the experience of last year. Edwards was awesome towards the end of the year, Ma'u was awesome before injury, Paulo was awesome at times and Tepai looked at home almost straight away. We'll be ok up front IMO, especially if Watmough comes.

Weakness is the back 7. There is class there, Hoppa is all class, Semi is a very good attacking winger. I'd have Ben Crooks in the side straight away, he had issues with his coach last year but he made the ESL team of the year as a 19/20 year old and has 30 odd tries in 40 odd games. Beau Champion is good enough when fit, but he has hands like feet and is always injured. Ryan Morgan is rubbished unfairly, he's good without being a match winner. Robinson and Toutai are interchangeable, Robinson is lightning and can score a try, Vai is big and strong and can score a try, both are ordinary defenders who can have shocking games. Halves are hit and miss. Norman needs to get more involved this year, although reports indicate he was playing with some sort of knee injury. Sandow....who the f**k knows?

Ultimately I don't think we will make the 8. But I also don't think we'll be as awful as some do and might surprise a lot of people...it'll be more about attitude than anything for us. If we deal well with losing Hayne mentally it'll be a similar year to this year with the possibility (luck permitting) of being a bit better in terms of ladder position, if not....I'll become an alcoholic...

Blake would be tremendous if he could get as much room to move as he does in reggies. But we all know he won't. Try him out by all means, but I'm far from convinced he's going to dislodge Jamal from his position as a matter of course.

Also Docker WILL be in the side. Some supporters of the club don't rate him, but he strikes fear into opponents and that'll do me. All he really needs is a few kay gees.

Somehow you guys have so much extra money when you struggled to resign Fifita this year? And had to pay overs when you did sign him

Blake will get space playing outside either Cartwright or Peach as the defence will actually be in 2 minds what they'll do unlike if Docker and Manu are the back rowers. Docker simply offers nothing with the ball and with having less creative halves in Sowie and Wallace be need that.

Again Grant will not provide impact from the bench. Back to his best and he'll go over the advantage line reasonably but don't expect him to be offloading and breaking tackles.

18. Koroisau

Anderson to play big minutes, Manu to play a bit of prop/second rower as needed. I think Cartwright needs some time off the bench especially as he won't have a pre season.

Feels good not to have question marks everywhere. Obviously Cleary will likely start with Kite and Plum for Anderson and Api and Idris in the centres but I think this is where we'll end up.

Brown was great from the bench. Otherwise looks good. There's a good chance Koroisau will start on the bench as well I think.

That is a weak squad...

Really need Tom Leyroh Larhs to find form or there is very little impact from that forward pack. Bromwich is now one of the best Front rowers in the game but he alone can't carry the team.

I think Kurt Mann has massive potential especially if he can bulk up a little over the off season, Im doubting Duffie will ever be good again but would love to see it happen.

Going by recent years I wouldn't be surprised to see a washed up 5/8 end up in the squad...maybe Campese

With an offseason of coaching under McFadden we will be top 4. Quote me on it.

Especially if we swap fatty lazy ass Mateo for Matai as reported.

** Bold but realistic prediction: Johnson will be the best half in the NRL by the end of the year

Better than solid team and another season with high hopes but we have to get a top 4 spot if we are to give the title a shake. This means not losing the usual 4 out of the first 5 games!!

Granville brings a new dimension in attack but we will miss the Sims boys' impact. But, we won't miss their 4 penalties per game at stupid times. Excited to see a rejuvenated Ben Hannant in our colours with a point to prove. C'mon Cows!!!

the coach has to find a way to get taumalolo to play an many impactful minutes as last night. why do huge men have pea hearts [like tony williams]. i'd prefer bolton to g.hall and cannot wait to see ben spina get his chance during the season.

This side still beats Cronulla.....seriously, I just don't see where the money goes in that side. Is Gallen on 3m a year?

1. Fish/Lolohea
2. Lolohea/Fish
3. Laumape
4. Hurrell
5. Manu
6. Tomkins
7. Johnson

Top 4 and one of the Grand Finalists imo. Excellent side. I'd play Taumalolo at lock with Ethan Lowe in the backrow though.
