This is impossible to predict!

But I'll go for:

These two to be the best:

Tim Smith
SBW

These two have had the biggest impact as Rookies in the last 10 years

Then:

Take your pick

Wow. Very few nominations for Thurston and Inglis. Laughing my arse off at all the SBW, Tim Smith, and Todd Carney predictions...what a waste of talent.

It hasn't been 5 years yet, but at the moment top 5?
Lockyer Thurston Inglis Slater Smith?

SBW
Marshall
Inglis
Tupou
Soliola

Close: Hunt, Sutton, Vatuvei, Farah, Harrison

Not even close: Tim Smith

This was a fair sort of effort....I seem to be about the only guy in the thread to pick Tupou who went on to be an international and still is, and pretty much the only one to pick Hunt (iirc they both had a bit of 2nd year syndrome in 2005 and people went off them, especially Hunt).

Marshall and SBW were sorta wrong, but everyone picked them....quite a few ppl picked Inglis which is impressive cos he was only 18 then and hadn't really become a star yet.

Soliola was a bit optimistic but it could've been worse. Harrison, lol, dunno what I was thinking there, but I actually wasn't the only one who picked him!

Couple of masterstrokes with Smith and Vatuvei

Dunno if this has been done before but who do you believe will be the world's top 5 players in the year 2010?

Players like Johns and Webcke would have retired, Hindmarsh and Lockyer would be near the end of their careers and players like Benji and SBW will be in their mid 20's approaching the peak of their powers.

So who do you see kicking on and improving out of the great crop of juniors we currently have?

My top 5 in 2010....

1- Sonny Bill Williams
2- Tim Smith
3- Benji Marshall
4- Jarrod Mullen
5- Robbie Farah

Btw, my list was done quickly, i may have made an obvious ommision or something.....

Thoughts though?

Hes done pretty well. Kudos...but for historys sake:

1. SBW left the game for sheer greed and to be a sook.
2. Tim Smith has medical and drinking problems and is a sook
3. Benji plays 1 or 2 good games a year and is a sook
4. Mullen is 50% of Andrew Johns but is not a sook
5. Farah....well hes just an absolutely a gun player.

lol @ people loling @ at SBW prediction. As if you guys knew what was gonna happen.

LOL @ You LOLing @ people LOLing @ SBW predicions.

It's not about mocking those predictions as having been stupid, just funny to see how far off the mark they ended up being given what happened.

Worst call in the history of forums

I was thinking that as i read through this thread again :lol:

FTR - My top 5 were:

Sonny Bill Williams
Benji Marshall
William Zillman
Robbie Farah
Tim Smith

But i also mentioned Greg Inglis a few posts later, i recon i did ok.
SBW would be if he was still in League, Marshall i got wrong, the blokes just about washed up, Zillman could still come good but its unlikely given his injuries. Farah's a gun and Smith could have been if not for his off field antics...

come to think about it, i did pretty sh*te didnt i

If i were to pick it 5 years from now:
Inglis, Folau, Farah, T.Carney (im tipping he'll return to the NRL with another club after maturing abit and tear it up) and Terry Campese (for the raiders sake :D )

In no order...

SBW
Soward
Mullen
Marshall
Smith.

I cant really think of a 'great' future backrower or prop...
IMO i've done alright.

SBW - Best backrower going around IMO he was until he decided to leave
Soward - LU Player of the year 2008, right?
Mullen - Played 1 origin game since, but way off top 5 players.
Marshall - Way off, hasnt done anything since October 2005
Cameron Smith - Very nice call. Probably best player now, state and country captain.
