Just watched 7 news.
Our best ever CEO starred again.

Basically...
  • A fan with terminal disease contacted him about sending a large donation - part of an insurance payout - to help bail us out.
  • 6 cheques totalling $30 000. All but 1 cheque were sent to Fat Zaps home address.
  • Sharks Board know nothing about it when asked.
  • Fan received no receipts just text messages from Fat Zaps saying 'I received your cheque'.
  • All emails were from Fat zaps private hotmail addrees NOt his official Shark one. Told the fan this was because his PA had access to his Shark email.
  • When asked about it by 7 he replied he was going to pass it all onto Barry Pierce next week. BP knew nothing about it.
  • The worst part... Sticky knew about it.
Once again story depends on Channel 7's investigating, but this don't look good for the fat man.

The Cronulla Sharks Board is demanding answers from former boss, Tony Zappia, over a secret fund.

Former Cronulla Sharks boss Tony Zappia reportedly asked a terminally-ill fan who wanted to set up a foundation for the club to send thousands of dollars to his home address.
The 27-year-old fan, who wants to remain anonymous, contacted the club last year, offering to set up a foundation using money from an insurance payout.
Mr Zappia established the Beyond Sharks Foundation and told the fan to send the money to his western Sydney home address, Network Seven reported on Sunday.
'Tony Zappia answered back almost immediately and said that it would be a good idea to set up a foundation,' the fan said.
'Tony Zappia, he emailed me and told me to send it to his home from then on in.'
The fan said he sent six cheques totalling $30,000, sending all but one to Mr Zappia's home address. Four of the cheques were made out to Mr Zappia and two to the foundation.
But the Seven Network reports a club spokesman said the Sharks had no knowledge of the foundation and had never received any of the money.
The fan said Mr Zappia sent him 73 emails from his personal account, saying it was to ensure confidentiality as his personal assistant had access to his official Sharks account.
Mr Zappia did not comment on the report but told News Ltd the $30,000 donation has been spent on team camps and football equipment.
The fan has pledged $1.5 million in total, which Mr Zappia said will be used for ground improvements and facilities for fans.
Mr Zappia said he would hand over details of the foundation to Cronulla chairman Barry Pierce.
The allegations follow Mr Zappia's resignation as Sharks chief executive on Thursday evening ahead of a meeting with the board where his future was to be discussed.
He stood down from his position earlier last week following allegations aired on the Seven Network involving an 2008 incident where former employee Jenny Hall was left with a black eye.

How bad is that Bigpond vidio , so slow ( broadband) . Get Sol Trugilloo and make him wait for it over and over again!
I cant see anything about Ricky knowing about it tho. That report on 7 made it look like Zaps was keeping the money for himself, why would he do that?

You've got to admit that if the reports are true, it looks awfully dodgy on Zappia's part. Hope for his sake he's got (a) good documentation for the establishment and registration of the foundation, and (b) receipts for the $30k he says was spent on team camps and equipment.

What can you say?

No respect left in this stupid world, nothing is sacred.

If only my mate Bill Hicks was alive today...

Yes Spide, that being the case is bad for us, by association, but at the end of the day Zappia is responsible for his own actions, particularly ones the Club has no knowledge about through what may be deception.

Even if Zappia can produce all the documentation and receipts etc, his actions in doing anything in the name of the club, without reporting such activities, is disgraceful.

No organisation would accept this type of behaviour from the CEO.

This does all look weird - but I am over jumping to conclusions based on half a story so will be interested to see how it all plays out. If Zappia (and anyone else in the club) has tried to do a number on this bloke I hope they get hit by a f**king truck.

Regardless - I for one am glad to see the back of zap. I was fed up with his media grabs long before the jenny hall fiasco came out.
